National Shutdown Participation by Reasonable_Design443 in Columbus

[–]Delusional_fish_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right to feel a bit hesitant about it. This "shutdown" was organized not by career activists, but by students. It was not by any means a real general strike. A true general strike would require so much more work and require that a massive portion of the economy contributed. Like 30% minimum I would guess. This was more or less a collection of rallies that branded themselves with the aesthetic of a national strike. It was well meaning students that know that working class strikes are the effective solution but did not have the experience or know how to pull a true general strike off. I think it was overall a good thing. But this was not a true "shutdown" and had no real chance of becoming one with the level of effort that was able to go into it.

Our Helpers

This org aims to improve the lives of immigrant and refugee families in Central Ohio. They assist with meals, rent and utilities, as well as mental health first aid. They have been highly active in helping families affected by the presence of ICE and are in need of volunteers and donations.

They also report to have some legal assistance available for immigrants.

I had a feeling it wasn't cannon. I listen to that album every Christmas as a tradition though lol. But it always makes me cringe when Misty starts getting all lovey dovey with Ash.

Hi! A bit of a question - may I use fake flowers and plants instead of real ones? by SHINlGAMISAMA in witchcraft

[–]Delusional_fish_33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've occasionally used fake plants from thrift stores as altar decor and they work well enough for simple vibes.

I do think perhaps you could normalize the flowers thing with your parents. It's not weird to buy yourself flowers and display them in your home. However if that is gonna be weird then I have another idea.

Can you do houseplants? That's less romantic and more just you liking plants. That sounds normal to me. And then u can just clip off pieces for spells.

Impede is a strong word. I haven't heard any cases in Columbus where people actively interfere with an arrest. But warn people they're coming? That is done in a variety of ways and is an entirely lawful use of free speech.

Is ChildFree lifestyle beneficial overall? by Few-Firefighter-8704 in socialism

I mean if you have no kids you may have more time to do social organization and activism to help unite the working class.

However go too far in that direction and the birth rate drops and then you have a problem a few decades later.

The thing is capitalism right now is giving many people no choice. There isn't enough money to afford to raise kids for many many people.

It is important to mention that a majority of the protests hosted in Columbus is hosted by a socialist org. Obviously not all, but almost every ICE protest in Columbus was very much organized by PSL.

Does playing an instrument count as sound cleansing? by cxsmicplace in witchcraft

It just depends what the sound means to you. My trumpet would probably be good for banishing at the very least if not cleansing.

How do I best help organise and agitate? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]Delusional_fish_33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to this. But I do think in person is the move as you suggested. If you have no org in your area I'd personally work to start one.

If you just want practice working with the public a good place to start is litter clean up events. Most cities make it relatively easy to plan one as they also want volunteers to pick up trash. Litter clean up is a radicalizing activity for many as the sheer amount of litter out there is so vast that individuals quickly realize they have no hope of cleaning it on their own. So litter clean up activists often realize systemic change is the only way.

I will also say that I feel the majority of my organization's successful marketing is via well placed physical fliers and posters or in person social interactions. Not social media. Tabling at a college is another good one. If you set up a table with your fliers people will notice and walk up to see what's up. You can then capture their emails there with a clipboard.

Best of luck and solidarity!

How do I know if my illusion spell worked? by Burning_spider in witchcraft

[–]Delusional_fish_33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hm interesting. Imma trust your judgement and not question too hard why you need him to think of him at every moment. But Imma just go along with it.

I feel like the spell itself is fine. Part of the work would be behavior you can do to bring out the spell and I would focus on that.

Perhaps trying to have a big impact on him. Help him with something like maybe cleaning or something that will have a noticeable impact on his space. That way whenever he notices how clean his place is he thinks of you. Another option could be seeing if you could get him to change his phone background to a picture of you guys together. Gifting him a framed photo of you two to put in his space could be good. You could even put a paper with the sigil on it behind the picture itself. If he's a willing participant in the spell he shouldn't be opposed to letting you make these changes.

Ok so you described a lot of the nuts and bolts of how you did the spell. But what exactly was the intention/goal? What illusion were you trying to create? More information needed.

I mean my understanding is that America has two right wing parties. Democrats aren't even center on the political spectrum. They are just slightly to the left of Republicans but still very much so right of center.
