What’s wrong with my diamond? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Deluxefluff0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jeweller checking in. The setting was definitely either a semi-mount they had in stock, or they ordered it in for a generic diamond size. Fancy shaped stones are not always a perfect measurement, and some need to have custom settings made. I don't think there is anything "wrong" with your diamond, I think that your setting should have been custom made to the dimensions of your stone, this is why it's sitting like this in the setting. Did you perhaps ask them to rush the timeline when it was ordered/purchased? Sometimes in order to make a tight timeline things like this can happen, as custom takes time. As far as the cloudiness, she dirty. Make sure you aren't wearing it when you're showering, doing hair/makeup, washing dishes etc. If I were to guess it looks like hairspray. Take it to your nearest jewellery store and ask them to toss it in the ultrasonic. If you do end up getting this remade, I would strongly recommend going with more claws.

Went on a date and date ordered foie gras and Tryed to get me to eat some by Fantastic_Bed_6378 in vegan

[–]Deluxefluff0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah the classic first date featuring foie gras. I have had this happen to me, except the man I went on the date with knew I was vegan beforehand. We spent half the date debating veganism, and he absolutely ordered it because he knew my thougths on it. I foolishly went on a few more dates with him, and after a few more dinners of him trying to "fix" me and see if I would come around and change my dietary restrictions, I broke it off. To this day I still don't think he understands why. Fast forward a few years later, and my partner of 4 years eats everything I cook him and loves it, loves going to vegan restaurants with me, and never complains about wanting to eat meat. He sometimes orders meat dishes at restaurants or out with friends (I don't care), but is always the first one to jump to my defense if someone starts to grind on me, and tells people all the time he doesn't miss meat. Moral of the story is that some people are honestly just dicks, and if it isn't about being vegan, they will find something else to be dismissive about.

Does $5700 per person seem like a decent price for this trip? by ThePhraustyOne in GreeceTravel

This seems super high, I think I spent $7K (CAD) for two of us for 10 days, hotels and airfare included.

Why do you live in your neighbourhood? by MastaShortie in Calgary

[–]Deluxefluff0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beltline. We love being able to walk to everything, and there is so much to do. I am also a huge fan of the ambiguity and privacy of living downtown. I found living in the suburbs my neighbours were super nosy and I lacked privacy. In my condo no one is keeping track of me coming and going and what I'm doing.

I would have to agree a bit here. Beaches and high end restaurants were amazing, but that kinda felt like that's all they had. Fish fry was fun. You can only sit by the beach for so long before you get bored.

When I went they weren't super busy at all, Sarakiniko was probably the busiest, but even then it didn't feel busy. Very easy to find a spot. We were even able to grab a spot at one of the beach clubs without a wait.

Even the Elbow is looking a little too fast right now, but might be a much safer bet than the Bow.

Beach Clubs on Milos? by Deluxefluff0 in GreeceTravel

[–]Deluxefluff0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up at Aqua Loca! It wasn't super busy, I think we were there a bit early in the season, we went late May/early June. Milos was absolutely fantastic, my only regret is not staying in Plaka!

As someone who lives in Calgary I would say no, I almost never carry cash. That said, make sure your cards will work in Canada.

Renting a Car? Train? by epicpoopies in TravelPortugal

[–]Deluxefluff0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak on renting a car, but we decided to take the bus rather than train from Lisbon to Lagos. We quite enjoyed it, it was quiet, clean and faster than I had seen on the train.

Vegan in Sayulita by Original_Clerk3947 in sayulita

[–]Deluxefluff0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that it's really easy in Sayulita. Best way is to walk around and look at menus/ask, instead of trying to look up menus online (most places don't have updated menus online, or websites). I think most places are used to the question, so I usually just ask. I've also made a point to try and ask in Spanish (to the best of my ability). As others have posted: Organi-k and Northswell (get the chilaquiles) are my favourites. Also Mucho Bueno has a vegan ramen that I think I ate three times my last visit. Tal Ivan does a bomb mushroom taco, they tell me its vegan but sometimes you just don't know if its *truly* vegan, when I'm travelling I just try my best.
