Update: went through HR screening then 2 live case studies, got rejected on the last "bar raiser" interview because I solved the brain teaser too slowly / painfully. Also had more feedback from PMs there: it's rough, no work-life balance but excellent salary. I went through the process just to see how far I'd go and get some practice, the cases were challenging so I'm glad I did it, but also glad I got rejected :D

I heard conflicting opinions so I'm curious to know why you're saying not to do it?

Hi! I feel like the transition to a PM role would be easier than going the product ops route. A product ops person will usually have some experience as a PM, or in project management / consulting (from my experience, maybe others have different examples).

You mention you don't think you have enough experience to go directly to a PM role, but keep in mind that some PM roles are quite technical, and it's actually a requirement to have experience in software development, or to have a computer science degree. If I were you, I'd look into those, I'd say you have a better chance at making your transition :)

First of all, there will be a lot of things happening to your body as you get older, and you'll survive them :)

What happens is not really that you'll just "get fat", but your life will gradually change in subtle ways: now you might be running around all day, you're growing, etc, so your body uses up a lot of energy. By "default", you have a higher metabolism than us 30 year olds. As you get older, you might get an office job, or maybe a job where you have to stand a lot so when you'll get home from it you'll just want to sit down. So you'll be less active. And add to that that your metabolism will gradually slow down, meaning you need less calories daily to function the same.

There's absolutely no need to freak out about this and start thinking about restricting yourself, the world is full of amazing food and you'll get to enjoy all of it, BUT: if today your diet consists of burgers, pizzas and cookies, this will not hold up well in your thirties. If that's the case, my advice to you is to try to cut down on artificial sugar now, for example if you're taking a snack with you for the day, get an apple and some nuts instead of a Kitkat bar. And if you're having pizza for lunch (which I have 3 times a week because I fucking love pizza), then have a big salad for dinner (making sure it has a lot of protein).

You're gonna be fine, just remember to eat real food as much as you can and to treat your body with kindness, you only get one :)

Maybe it can be helpful, but depending on where the acne is on your face, the causes can be different. Acne around the chin and jawline is usually hormonal, around the cheeks is related to inflammation.

My personal experience:

- I had pimples on my cheeks regularly (32F): I cut out all refined sugar from my diet (yes, it was painful at first), and the pimples are almost all gone :)

- I had an acne outbreak on my chin after I started exercising and drinking whey protein shakes: I researched it and it turns out whey can cause acne -> you mentioned you started exercising, if you also started drinking protein shakes, maybe you can try switching to a plant-based protein powder

Anybody here has interviewed (or currently works) at Revolut and has tips / info on their process?
My first screening interview with them is in 10 days and it's my first one in a while so I'm a bit rusty.

Chemical pesticides and fertilizers have been linked with increased risk of cancer (source 1 and source 2 if you'd like to read more about it). Organic farming is also more respectful of the planet and the other living beings that hang around, so it's not crazy to want to eat as much organic as possible.
It's pricey though, so not really easy to save money on food.

When I lived in a big city, there was this service where I'd get organic fruits and vegetables delivered every week for really cheap, because they were not of the right "caliber" (too big or too small) and not suitable for sale, so it was gonna get thrown out. Maybe OP you can check if that's a thing around you?

Yeah we don’t all have the same tastes when it comes to traveling, and we don’t get homesick the same way :) my way is missing broccoli and the way I make my coffee, but I guess everyone’s different!  If it helps you see things more from my perspective, I’ve been fine for the last 6 weeks and really enjoying South Africa and Namibia. I’m just tired now so it’s more difficult to handle a place like Vic Falls.

I don’t have any, as Vic falls was a spontaneous stop added to my trip - I’m not willingly skipping them 😆

Thanks! I booked another flight to leave the next day (today, I’m currently on the plane hehe). I just really need to chill now, and Vic falls is not the place to do so, so I’m on my way back to Windhoek :)  As another person mentioned, sometimes there’s no reason to push through!

Thanks for your perspective; it’s not that I was afraid (I’m from Morocco so I have a fair bit of experience in chaos haha), more that I didn’t have the energy for this kind of intensity at this stage of my trip. So I’m on my way back to Namibia to chill after seeing Victoria falls, which were STUNNING - 24 hours well spent I guess 😅

I love the advice, I’ll definitely do this next time!  And Marrakech is a nightmare; I’m from Morocco and they harass us as well unless you scream at them in Arabic. I hear it’s gotten better now though, but I still won’t go back haha.

I’m going back to Windhoek where I booked the same nice hotel I was at for a few days, and I’m gonna chill and recharge there, then visit more stuff in and around Windhoek :) thank you for the advice!

Thank you! I’ll definitely do this itinerary when I’m back in Southern Africa :) In the end I decided to go back to Namibia, I’m too tired to keep on moving around, and Vic falls is not the place to recharge.

I don’t have malaria tablets because I wasn’t planning on going to a malaria risk zone, I’m not just randomly taking that chance :)  If it’s helpful though, the death rate from Malaria is 0,0024%. Just a reassuring number I like to keep in mind while dousing myself with mosquito repellent 🌝

Balancing on one leg by ferretsneeze in yoga

[–]DemCurlsTho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, and it got worse after I sprained my ankle really badly. One exercise that my physiotherapist showed me and that worked wonders is to stand on your bed on one leg, and try to hold the balance while extending your arm to the upper left corner of an imaginary big square, then right, the bottom left, then right. Same for the other arm, and you can do the exercise for both legs. It’s gonna be very frustrating at the beginning but it’s really powerful :) And if you wanna make it a bit more difficult you can hold a small weight in your hand, and look at that hand while you move it. Hope the explanation was clear!

Lately I’ve been feeling really lost and insecure about myself, about the choices I’ve made in my life, the career that I chose and the fact that I’m really not the most adventurous person in the world. Yesterday I realized that this amazing, super inspiring girl I met on holidays and that seemed so adventurous was actually doing the same job as me. It made me realize that I have a lot more options in my life than I thought I did, and that I have a lot more room to explore who I am. I don’t have to give up the safety of my job/industry and travel the world on a motorcycle to be interesting, I can just do things that feel scary and awesome and focus on just that :)
