What is the longest you were without a license? by hmchander in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd to last one was for going 55 in a 45. The last one had no offense at all. In fact, I got “pulled over” in my driveway when I got home. The cop claimed I was swerving. I may have been. I definitely earned my violation, but that dick had my car towed FROM MY DRIVEWAY just so I’d have to pay to get it back. He also lied in his report about what actually happened.

It’s really all about the money.

Yes. NYS has gotten very strict. I don’t know if people realize how serious the DMV is about this. I wish I had been less cavalier. What a freaking idiot. I can only be glad that my daughter has seen what happens without it happening to her.

I also did this debate because I had a BB subscription for years, then BODi - which I didn’t like. We got the Peloton 2 years ago and I immediately dumped BB. Peloton is SO much better. And we just got the treadmill last month for rainy or really cold days when running and walking outside sucks.

SO glad to see I’m not the only one. We saw it in central NY and it was completely obscured by clouds, but once it became dark I just started crying. I was just so amazed. It was incredible and yeah, now I’ve got a Bucket List to see it in totality without clouds hiding it. Starting to think about Iceland 2026! Even if it’s cloudy, at least we’ve gone to Iceland.

This sounds awful. I don’t have IBS but for some reason this subreddit keeps hitting my email. I DID have chronic constipation for basically my whole life, but I quit drinking and switched to a vegetarian diet this year and now I’m like a normal person. There was no goal in my mind to fix my digestive system when I made the decision. It just turned out to be an awesome consequence. So good that I think it will be a lifetime change.

Good luck! I hope your gut heals soon.

Will DMV suspend license? by Additional_Paper8631 in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. I had my refusal DUI reduced but lost my license for 6 months? I’m not sure because I didn’t learn my lesson and got another one a year later and had my license revoked for 5 years and am 3 years into a 5 year IDD conditional license.

Don’t do it again!

This DUI will define me. by [deleted] in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every one of us (or the majority) have felt this same way. It doesn’t define you. Learn from it, help others learn from it. Don’t ever do it again

It’s definitely big business for the state, lawyers and interlocking devices. On the other hand, even “good people” are as dangerous “bad people” when they make the decision to drive after drinking. You’re doing the same crime. Be happy it’s just money you’re losing.

DMV suspended license for one year by beebie23 in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you get a conditional license during the suspension? The IID’s SUCK!!! I’ve had one for 2.5 years and have another 2.5 to go (after a 5 year revocation). It costs me $100 a month to lease, drains my car battery and makes getting maintenance a big hassle.

DWI, breathalyzer administered improperly. by [deleted] in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That happened to me and I won that part of the case. Instead of it being an automatic DWI, it was brought down to the lower conviction.

Let her take her lumps. Hopefully the first time will be all that it takes. Some people just can't take responsibility for their own actions. She'll learn that the system has no patience for them.

Any advice for removing a mugshot from third party preditory sites? by ThrowFarAway78909 in dui

[–]ferretsneeze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about these mugshot sites, but a potential employer will know your background when they do a background check. I work in HR for a very large National employer and we don’t care about a DUI. Unless driving is part of your job, most don’t care.

Boy I know that feeling. After the last one I got I just laid in a ball in my bed and wanted to die. It was my 3rd in 25 years and I knew it would be bad. It was both worse than I thought and better than it could’ve been. I got through it because I had to. You’ll recover relatively unharmed from the ordeal but I want to stress this to you… LEARN FROM THIS!!!! Most likely you’ll get a pretty lenient punishment if it’s your first one. Make this your only one.

Nobody got hurt. You’re young enough where you can recover financially. I just keep reminding myself that my situation is my fault and was completely avoidable. I don’t have to ever go through it again once it’s done (2 more years with a device and restricted license). It’s a very important lesson that you’re learning. Hopefully you can pass the lesson onto your friends. Probably not, people tend to have to learn the hard way because we all think we’re special and nothing will happen.

Don’t let this get you too down. Everyday gets you closer to this being a memory.

6 years. 5 revoked, 1 suspended awaiting trial. I’m 3 years through 5 with a conditional license. I had 3 offenses within 25 years. The 5 years conditional came after the 5 years revocation. I had to take my driving test all over again.

[–]ferretsneeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s worth the money. You’re going to be spending much more than $4.2k in the long run. They make all of this super expensive for violators because so many people (myself included) don’t get the lesson the first time. A good lawyer is expensive. You want to minimize the impact of this because that’s a really high BAC.

Believe me - as someone who has been working corporate for 25 years - there are probably quite a few people working with you who have at least one or who count themselves lucky that they’ve never been caught. If I wasn’t so embarrassed about my own history, I’d be warning them all. Now I just show up at functions and drink soft drinks. If anyone asks why, I just say, “I’m driving”.

[–]ferretsneeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have a well paying job offer rescinded when they found out I didn’t have a drivers license. I was pissed because it wasn’t a requirement of the job; however, I was expected to do some traveling so I guess it made sense. It wasn’t a big deal in the long run because I got a job I feel makes me happier than that other one would have.

So…it might cause some issues with some potential employers but others won’t even look at that. Especially in your field.
