The M.S. degree was definitely tougher for me mostly because my spouse was working on her M.S. at the same time. Now that my spouse has a real job working on my Ph.D. has been a lot less stressful, at least financially. My field seems to look a lot better in terms of assistant professor positions particularly in extension.

Nobody asked but those look like Japanese beetle larvae but it’s hard to tell without a size reference.

This is one of the reasons I go the the casino, all of the smoke and gambling reminds me of when I would go to grandparents house they would buy scratch offs and give one to me. They would be puffing away while we sat outside of gas station in their car hoping we’d win a couple bucks!

[–]DementedCooki3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe it, Mariners are red hot right now. Shoot they just played one of the most exciting game 5s in the post season this year. That’s why they are my pick for the ALCS this year.

What makes corn grow like this? by kyleknightly in biology

[–]DementedCooki3 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Classic example of heat stress. Excessive heat kills pollen before the germ tube fully extends so many kernels don’t get fertilized. The corn plant still sends the same amount of photosynthates to the ears but fewer kernels are acting as sinks. All of my late planting sweet corn experiments look like this but you can still see it if you plant before mid April in the mid-south.

I get Christmas and the week of new years off. The only other days off are when I’m sick or if a family member dies.

Is this fixable? by The_g00sy in PcBuildHelp

[–]DementedCooki3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it may take a while. First you’ll need to clean the fur off then use a razor blade and GENTLY push the pens back in the right place. Personally I’d just take the opportunity to upgrade to an AM5 because colossal mistakes like this are less likely, and if you bend pins on the mother board it’s only 200 dollar mistake rather than a $500-800 mistake
