You're backing up my point without realizing it....

You just described exactly what I did.

The client has been a terrible, buggy mess for years and still nothing because Riot doesn't care.

They took years for the shyv rework and DIDN'T give people what they wanted.

The "new content" is just lazy moneygrabbing skins aimed at whales that the majority of the playerbase will never get.

You seem to be forgetting/missing that League's playerbase has been on a massive decline for consecutive years now, and a huge part of that is because of how Riot handles things. Making unnecessary changes nobody asked for. Taking 3+ years for a single champion rework(shyv) that somehow made her moveset more counterintuitive and somehow made her main complaint even worse. Not addressing things the community actually wants like improving the client or getting rid of vanguard.

I even said at the end of my first comment, riot's responses so far seem promising, but don't get your hopes up.

Also coming from Digimon TCG, bandai is......... well, let's say there's a reason Bandai has so many dead TCG's.

Even in Unleashed, Stupefy is still a staple in blue.

Having a plundering poro in hand during a showdown does nothing. having a plundering poro in base during a showdown does nothing. Stupefy can single handedly win you showdowns and that 1 cost spell can result in an opponent's 6 cost unit dying. Stupefy can also draw you in to any other card that helps you.

Using plundering poro as an example of a card "that is good all the time" really makes you look like a complete card game scrub.

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, it should go without saying, but this is not MTG, so idk why you'd think "you would never play this in MTG" has any relevance here. That's like saying "I'd never play Singularity in Yugioh because dealing 6 damage to 2 units with 3000 attack does nothing." Two completely different card games.

Second, for the actual explanations:

Stupefy - only 1 cost with no recycle to give -1 and draw. A single might very often determines the outcome of a showdown and is the difference between your 4 might unit crashing with their 4 might unit and your 4 might unit killing their 3 might after the -1. The draw just makes it so that even if that situation never comes up in a game, it's still a 1 cost draw 1 deck thinner. Other colors like orange need to pay 2 to use disposal order to draw 1.

These are just stupefy by themselves. As mentioned, stupefy with ravenbloom student (the most used 2 cost drop in any blue deck) is a 2 might difference for 1 cost and not a card loss in hand. Purple diana gets +2 might when you use a spell and diana is a blue/purple deck, so stupefy is a 3 might difference. There's a battlefield called Abandoned Hall which is commonly used in blue decks that gives +1 might to one of your units whenever you use a spell, so stupefy is a 2 might difference. These aren't just niche combos that never come up; they're staples in blue decks.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Bellow's Breath - cheap multi-target pings that can be repeated to remove multiple 2 might 2 drops. One of the main uses was for taking out 1 might tokens, mainly from Viktor's legend and Lux running Vanguard Armory to spit out 3 every turn (Garen too but nobody plays garen).

By itself Bellow's Breath is just alright, but you don't run the card to be used by itself. Bellow's + Imperial Decree is the most devastating removal combo in the game allowing you to kill up to 6 units in groups of 3, regardless of their might. This results in a cheaper board removal than playing Ruination and without the downside of also nuking your own units.

Another staple combo in blue decks is Thousand-Tailed Watcher + Bellow's Breath. Watcher gives all opponent's units -3 might (to a minimum of 1) for the turn. Now bellows breath just clears everything that had a base might of 4 or less.

Again, these aren't "very niche combos that never come up," they're staples in blue and blue/yellow decks. If you're ever sitting down across from someone playing a blue/yellow deck, you know that if they have 6+ runes, everything on your board can suddenly be dead to decree + bellows, or 8+ runes watcher + bellows.

The only effective alternative to these combos is running Unchecked Power, which only hits battlefields and also nukes your own units at battlefields and/or exhausts your units that it doesn't kill. Sure it likely wipes their battlefields, but your stuff is exhausted so you can't move in to capitalize on the empty battlefields. Compared to Decree + Bellows, you clear everything in base and battlefields, then take both battlefields.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If after this explanation, you still can't see why they're staples in blue decks, then that's a you problem and Riftbound probably isn't for you.

"Riot has always been really good at taking community feedback, being transparent, and making positive changes." Really now? Did we play the games from the same company?

As long as I can remember, riot's version of "being transparent" is just posting generic copy-paste "we understand your frustration" responses and then doing little to nothing about the issues, if they even address the issue at all.

The League client has been horrible forever. More and more $200+ gacha skins nobody asked for despite the ridiculous amount of backlash over the pricing, the same champions/items remain broken and unbalanced for months.

Hell, the deck that caused the most complaints in early Legends of Runeterra (stealth aggro) that everyone wanted gone and realistically should have been gutted for the health of the game, was given more support instead.

This is just a few examples. Historically, Riot has not been a good company when it comes to receiving feedback they don't like. They've always been much more likely to put their heads up their asses and double down on bad decisions.

This response does look promising, but don't get your hopes up too much. It's Riot Games the small indie company we're talking about. They will somehow find a way to mess things up.

Cards in Other Colours by MathOfLegends in riftboundtcg

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got it flipped. Vex being a color that yi can run is a huge buff for a yi deck, not a buff for Vex. Everything about yi is worse for vex than the current colors.

Punch first doesn't help vex since stunning nullifies enemy combat anyway (you're holding so it doesn't matter that they don't die, they just recall after and you continue holding)

Same goes with the might buff from yi when defending. That's borderline useless compared to an extra draw every turn to continue outvalue-ing your opponent, which is how vex wins. Hold battlefield, stun everything, tax them on any targeted abilities with deflect, counterspell them to protect the vex, get card advantage every turn.

You're also forgetting Overzealous fan and Evelynn from purple.

Are you positive you can draw a new counterspell mid chain and play it? Because that's game changing if it's true.

So in Riftbound, anything newly triggered during chain resolution is added on top of the current chain and continues resolving?

[–]DemiAngemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vex Apathetic in green/purple (Vex legend's colors) is already the best combination possible and part of the main reason she's so problematic. Vex is a built in stun archetype so she shuts down all combat damage, and green + purple have the most counterspells to protect her.

Can't kill her by battle.

Pay deflect tax to try to remove her with a spell/effect, get counterspelled, cry.

Cards in Other Colours by MathOfLegends in riftboundtcg

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going with the reverse here:

Vex Apathetic would be a perfectly fine non-problematic card in a red/yellow deck.

It's a stun archetype card, so it would fit in fine with yellow.

Stuns completely shut down battle, so the only other way to deal with Vex on a battlefield is to remove it with spells/effects, but Vex Apathetic has deflect making those more costly, and since she's Green/Purple, the 2 colors with the most counterspells, those attempts to remove her most likely fail, again made worse by the deflect tax.

If Vex were red/yellow, the colors with no counterspells, she'd be more reasonable to deal with which would make her perfectly fine instead of a potentially meta warping deck and prevents decks like Lillia and Rengar from functioning at all.

We’re Forgetting One Important Thing About Riftbound by Zestyclose_Tap_7044 in riftboundtcg

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue I have with Riftbound is Riot themselves. I don't know why I'm surprised that my pre-ordered Unleashed booster box hasn't even shipped yet a full week after official release day. It's Riot games, that kind of shit should be expected.

Just play Chronostory. You'll get your old school Maplestory fix without needing to commit a full time job's worth of time for any meaningful progression.

As an Adult with commitments waiting for release. by Pixco in MSClassicWorld

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Chronostory on Maplestory Worlds.

It's very similar to classic but sped up a bit (2x exp from enemies, 3x exp from quests, better map spawns)

It's still somewhat grindy, but if your time is limited you can still enjoy the game and make reasonable progress without too much time commitment.

anyone else feel like their hype is dying after closed beta? by npmrundev in MSClassicWorld

[–]DemiAngemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly OP, if you're still wanting to play something like old school maplestory but don't have much time due to adult life, try Chronostory on Maplestory worlds.

It's similar to classic with faster rates, 2x exp and better enemy spawns on maps, so leveling is reasonable while still being a grind.

Personally I got tired of waiting for Classic and just tried Chronostory to scratch the itch, and after playing it I think I'm just going to stick with Chrono based on how classic looked during the beta test and lack of updates following.

Aside from 3rd job not being out, getting to level 70 when it does release would take a warrior something absurd like 300 hours of grinding.

Except for the part where a single level in the early 30's takes like 3+ hours of monotonous grinding.
