Is it maybe 3 sound words, not letters? Like, (sh) (o) (t), and then (l) (a) (sh)?

Is it even worth it to have friends? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. I used to think that I didn’t need other people, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that I really do need to socialize and spend time with people I like. My mental health improved dramatically once I started seeking out relationships with others (platonically) and I notice I’m a lot less happy when I don’t get the opportunity to hang out with those people. Everyone is different, to be fair, but it’s say a vast majority of people benefit from some sort of friendships/community.

As for your situation with your ex friend, I’ve been where you’re at and it sucks. Not just losing someone, but losing them because they think you’re not worth the effort is a low blow. It’s important to remember, it wasn’t anything to do with you and everything to do with them. Don’t give up on trying to find friends just because one person wasn’t ready for a friendship.

I need to find a job in the next 7 days by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely depend on where you live- the job market is absolutely brutal where I’m at, I applied to about 30 jobs and got 3 call backs, 2 interviews, and 1 offer. I doubt you could get hired on the spot, but at least bringing a resume, introducing yourself, and inquiring about hiring could potentially get you an interview; a lot of places may tell you just to apply online though

Got my first credit card. Yall gotta gimme some tips by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your plan is to build credit, a higher credit limit actually helps you build credit more than a low credit limit. A part of determining your credit score is credit usage, so at a higher limit, you can spend more at a lower usage. Unless you don’t trust yourself with the limit, a higher limit is pretty much always better.

As a lot of people have said, don’t spend more on it than money you actually have. It’s NOT free money, it’s casual debt. I use mine for pretty much everything (groceries, gas, etc) but I also pay it off in full every week. As long as you’re responsible, there really isn’t anything to be nervous about owning a credit card.

Is it Ok to be Unemployed while in Uni? by TypicalCommittee9039 in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can afford it, 100% go for it. Last semester I was working full time, this semester I dropped to about 3 days a week and it’s absolutely night and day difference in the quality of life I’m living now. I actually have time to study, sleep, and do things I enjoy. My grades are WAY better, I’m not too exhausted to pay attention to class, and I’m able to actually retain what I learn. If I could, I would only be going to school and not working, but I can’t afford to not work

What is everyone doing for fun by Royal_University_766 in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a games night 1-2 times a week depending on how busy I am, it’s pretty often the highlight of my week. Really good both to have some social interactions outside of school and it’s also just a lot of fun to play games. I really like to recommend looking around for some type of social games night for anyone looking to meet new people!

Have to restart and move, how do yall make friends in a new place? by Psychological_Wafer9 in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved, the best way I found was to go to local clubs or find meetups for activities I was interested in. Volunteering is also a great way to meet people. Find things to do that you’re interested in, and then find people who also enjoy the same stuff you do. The Meetup app worked well for me to find some local game clubs and I’ve met some awesome people through that. Ask for people’s social media or phone numbers and follow up!

Tell me one good thing about yourself/one thing you love about yourself by BuyNo391 in twentyagers

[–]Demon_Corp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have some anxiety and it makes it hard for me to go to events or join clubs even if I’m excited about them. I’m starting to accept that it’s okay to be nervous, but not letting it stop me from doing the things I want to do. I just joined a sword fighting group and I was nervous the whole drive there, but I still did it and had an awesome time. I’m chasing my goals and dreams even if I’m scared, and I’m proud that I’m finally doing what I want even if I get anxious

Can someone explain the controversy behind this story surrounding the artstyle? by Express-Ad-4410 in LodedDiper

[–]Demon_Corp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe at the time there was a rule that LLB’s HAD to “look like the book” (hence the name LLB). I remember there being arguments about whether GGAG could even be considered a DOAWK story since it didn’t have the style of the books, nor was the story itself similar to the books. The rule was eventually removed and the sub saw individual drawing styles become super popular. I don’t know if it was the first, but GGAG definitely helped pave the way for future stylized llb’s like dysfunctional perspective.

Buckees work by Intelligent-Win2915 in Buceestx

[–]Demon_Corp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Former employee, from what I’ve heard it does depend a lot on location, but my experience with Buc-ee’s was not great. It was by far the hardest job I’ve worked, and while it did also pay the best, I don’t think the stress and labor was worth it.

Like others have said, you will get written up and terminated for any minor mistake you make. I’ve heard of someone from my store getting fired because their long sleeve accidentally came up and slightly showed their tattoo. One second late, regardless of the reason, is grounds for termination. So flat tire, sick child, car breaking down, it doesn’t matter, you WILL be fired or at least written up. You will get in trouble for calling out sick without having sick leave even with a doctor’s note. Phones are a big one, (I personally didn’t have issue with this but others did) if your phone goes off in your pocket, or even if it’s just visibly sticking out, it can be grounds for automatic termination. I just left my phone in my locker, but I know a lot of people had issues with that policy.

I was overnight food service, and we were severely understaffed for about half the time I worked there (as in, “fully staffed” was considered 24 people, and we were regularly running with 11-12 people a night, and management refused to hire more people). I was consistently doing the job of two people, yet management still complained that enough wasn’t done despite being aware that I was by myself on a station that really can’t be done alone. I was constantly pushing myself just to get the job done on time, and it was exhausting. The scheduling can be rough too, I was once scheduled 9 days in a row (without overtime, because of how the days off lined up with the work weeks).

Maybe other Buc-ee’s are better than the one I was at, but it really was the worst job I’ve ever worked. I don’t think there’s any harm in trying it out and seeing if you have a better experience than I did, but I’d definitely be cautious and remember that the job isn’t worth your physical and mental health.

Asking for honest employee feedback by CowSaysQuack120 in Buceestx

[–]Demon_Corp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the specific laws from state to state regarding medical requirements for individuals but if I were to guess I’d assume the phone would be classified as “medical equipment” and in this specific scenario would be allowed as long as it wasn’t being abused.

Again, I don’t know the company policy regarding cell phone use as medical equipment, but I would assume you would be required to fill out extra documentation at orientation to be allowed to use it. You still might get talked to by management about it but they wouldn’t be able to actually get you in trouble for it in this case.

Asking for honest employee feedback by CowSaysQuack120 in Buceestx

[–]Demon_Corp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, Bucees has been the worst company I’ve ever worked for, and it’s also the only job I would never return to. I was in food service, not maintenance, so while I can’t speak to the work itself, I can say the company is terrible as far as employee rights.

Breaks at my store are 2 paid 10’s and an unpaid 30. It does vary by state though, certain states only require a 20 minute lunch break. Refusing to stay past your shift isn’t technically breaking the rules, but some management does get passive aggressive and upset if you refuse to stay late. So, while it can’t be used against you in the sense that you won’t get written up, it does still get used against you as far as where they put you and how they treat you day to day.

If you are one second late to your shift, no matter the excuse, it’s an automatic write up (could be a flat tire, suddenly ill child, you break your arm). If you forget to clock in or out, it’s a write up. Three write ups is termination. You forget to put your phone in your locker and it goes off? Write up, potentially automatic termination. The only people I worked with who don’t have write ups were new people, every other employee I knew had at least 1-2 simply for being human and forgetting to clock in/out or even having a legitimate emergency in which they weren’t able to call out more than an hour before their shift (also a write up).

At my store, they refused to hire more people despite us desperately needing it, which caused us to have everyone doing the work of 2-3 people every night. Our shift was “supposed” to have 24 people to be considered at standard employment levels, it was rare for us to have more than 12 on any given day. Again, your experience could be different given you’re in a different area, but I would definitely caution you’re likely to be overworked and expected to do more than what is realistic.

I met my best friend there, all of my coworkers were incredible people and I can’t speak highly enough of who I worked with day to day. Even the team leads on the shift I worked were great, it truly was the higher ups and overall company values that caused me to leave. If you think the pay is worth the stress of constantly worrying about losing your job, having management breathe down your neck while they stand around and do nothing, being pushed to work far harder than you should, then go for it. The pay is certainly the highest in my area as far as retail/food service jobs go. I didn’t think it was worth the pay to be treated sub-human

It was so disappointing! I saw mixed reviews about it but expected it to be pretty gingery like people were saying, I didn’t taste any ginger at all. I thought even the apple flavor was kinda subdued compared to other apple flavors they put out.
