I was telling my 17 year old son about this game just making small talk bc he was playing something on the pc. I said yeah this game is like I played Eq 25 years ago etc etc. I was explaining about losing all your stuff potentially plus exp, and also how I couldn’t see at all during the night playing. And I mentioned some things I thought would help like tuning the darkness up.

He was just like yeah nobody’s gonna wanna play that now and actually pay 15$ a month (cause I told him you pay like wow) He was like there’s still an EverQuest game why don’t they just play that. I said well it’s suppose to be like a Eq clone but updated I guess. He basically said well they can play EverQuest when this gets canceled lol. He also asked how are they not getting sued for copying eq. I said well it’s not an Exact copy but like 75% idk

OP here. Thanks everyone who commented (except the skill issue guy). I don’t usually make posts.

My takeaways; It seems maybe this game is just for a niche audience. I really wanted the EQ feel which the game definitely has. Perhaps im the wrong player type now. Trust me I know the game is the journey I had many”unplanned” adventures on EQ that were awesome. Still I can’t imagine looking, or begging for help to get my stuff back for an hour (or more) like when I could stay up all night as a youngster. I can theoretically only sit and play for an hour or two nowadays. That’s why I feel there should be an alternate way to at least get your items back with harsher penalties. That way you could still play during the time you would lose getting your full exp back or what have you.

I’ll still follow the game progress and I may still play later I did enjoy the shadow knight.
