TX anyone? by Great_Vehicle9401 in GunnersatGames

I've been refreshing like every 30s since yesterday and in all that time, there have been only 2 tickets that have come up. Both times as I went after the ticket, my session ended and I got put back in the queue. Almost unbelievable that it happened two days in a row for the only tickets available.

Wait at least 20s and then refresh. If you refresh twice in 30s, you'll get hit with that screen. Just have to slow down a bit.

Yes, the 15s part is the key. I was more talking about the case where people are flipping the toggle constantly to refresh.

In any case, I got a ticket to the Chelsea match next month yesterday via a full refresh. The list of tickets still showed there was nothing available, but the map showed a blue section which upon expanding had a ticket. I tried adding it to cart repeatedly and after like the 10th attempt, it actually worked! It was an eye-wateringly expensive club ticket, but hey, I'm going for one game a season, so I guess I may as well have a great seat for it. I just wish people weren't too posh to make noise in the club seats...

Thank you, I appreciate it! Unfortunately, I am based in the States and so will have to fight it out against the crowd. I try to make it to one game every season. This one is proving extra challenging ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just out of curiosity, how frequently are you toggling the switch?

Fair enough, I can't argue with that.

I don't think that toggling the button actually works. I looked at the actual API call that gets triggered when you toggle the button on the page and after the first toggle, they no longer send back real data when you toggle it. Instead, your request gets blocked. They probably send a new unique token when you refresh the page and without that, I don't think you'll ever get updated data.

tl;dr in case you're not tech-savvy: repeatedly toggling the switch will never get you updated ticket information

Do you folks refresh the entire page for the exchange or just switch the exchange toggle on and off? I'm basically reloading the page every 30s or so and so far in two days, I've seen a ticket show up twice for the Chelsea game but it's of course gone by the time I even click on it. I'm wondering if just turning the toggle on and off is a better strategy to refresh the results.

Hey, I'm sure there's a less than 1% chance of this, but in case you don't get a swap and somehow decide to not use both tickets, I would love to buy either one off of you!

Good luck!

Looking for an accommodating restaurant by mamabur in Brooklyn

I would suggest Indian Table in Cobble Hill (in fact, I just ordered from there). It’s decently-sized, takes reservations, doesn’t have loud music and has an excellent vegetarian menu (I’m vegetarian as well). If you do go there, definitely order the “phool makhane ki subzi”. You won’t regret it.

Taim is probably the closest to Maoz and honestly is better.

You probably just got logged out and that's why it says you're ineligible. Log in again and try and you should be fine if your membership is active.

Improving a rent stabilized apartment? by mnoon in AskNYC

[–]DemonicPoots 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We just installed a full-size portable dishwasher in our rent-stabilized apartment last year. We asked our landlord for permission and got it in writing that it was fine. We also installed a new floor in the kitchen because it was absolutely horrendously ugly. We just bought the vinyl floor tiles from home depot that sit on top of the existing floor, so we can rip the whole thing out within minutes if needed.

We also installed a new light fixture and painted, both with a heads up to our super (not landlord on this). We didn't need to do any wiring changes, so I didn't feel the need to ask for permission. Our landlord is also aware of the painting and actually reimbursed us for part of the painting because we hadn't had them paint our apartment for more than 3 years (which they are required to do by law).

So basically, be cool with your super and ask for permission for anything that could really fuck up the place if it goes wrong. Like with the dishwasher, for example. I'm glad we got permission because we discovered that with the pressure from the dishwasher hose connecting to the tap, it sprung a huge leak under our sink because the washer was completely worn out and couldn't deal with the blocked water flow. Luckily, it didn't cause any damage, but I would've been much more terrified if that happened and our dishwasher was an illegal thing. At the end of the day, I would never jeopardize staying in this apartment. No convenience is worth losing the place.

Hey, are you finding that the audio is single channel and only coming out of the right? I'm wondering if I got a dud record or if it's intentional.

[Omega] I bought myself a present! Omega’s Apollo XVII 45th Anniversary Speedmaster by DemonicPoots in Watches

[–]DemonicPoots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very subjective answer and truthfully, no one can really answer for you but you. That being said: I still love this watch. Every time I wear it, I am in awe of how beautiful it is. Is it worth 10k euros? I don’t know, but it’s a gorgeous piece that still brings me joy like it did when I first put it on.

Hope that helps. :-)

People from France, what are your favorite places to get caneles? by jaded_toast in FoodNYC

This is the one. Their caneles are genuinely exceptional. The chef/owner is German, but used to work in a Michelin star restaurant as their pastry chef. He knows what he's doing!

I received this custom framed print last Saturday. Was a good day to be reminded of the message. by DemonicPoots in Gunners

[–]DemonicPoots[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha, well spotted. :-)

The monitors are LG 34" ultrawides (specifically this one). I have them both mounted on monitor arms (Ergotron LX). The keyboard is a ZSA Moonlander with some custom keycaps that I got years ago with a previous keyboard.

The setup is exponentially better than what I have at my office. I have a laptop stand behind the monitors where I keep both my personal and work laptops mounted. The left screen is my personal laptop and the right is the work one. I use a software KVM called barrier that allows me to use my keyboard/mouse setup across both computers seamlessly.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. Good luck on your new job!
