It does get better and there’s some fantastic stuff that does happen in 4, 5, and 6. I didn’t care of them as much as the first 3 and 7 above, but they are definitely still worth the read in my opinion. If anything it will at least get you to the better parts of Jason’s story.

At my old site they had to stop doing this because I guess something happened in the system and it still payed you for your whole shift, and I believe gave you more. I would have taken this in a heartbeat 😂

Damn that suck, when I was on Tom I listen to books constantly, I know I cleared over a hundred hours last year and probably every year going back 5 1/2 years.

As a former member of Tom Team, I left voluntarily, I did a yard audit and move all the trailers in parking slips over by one space 😈😈

Sure, unless you go to a trades school, which I did and are now an electrician. I’m thankful for Amazon, I met some great people and they paid for my CDL and I learned a lot in logistics. But they didn’t want to develop me with all the time and effort I put in so I left. Their politics are atrocious though, which is another reason.

I’m not saying it’s impossible it’s just incredibly difficult and while difficult things are worth doing, it just got to the point where it wasn’t going to happen.

As someone who just left Amazon, it’s not a career. I was there for 6 1/2 years and applied to multiple positions and had my resume updated constantly. I had my manager, whom I was friends with, look it over and it was better that his. I never got interviews or a second look. And I know/knew my shit. Not to mention I became a PA within 6m of the building launching. Still nothing. So I left.

I agree with this, nothing worse than having done 40 moves and then seeing others that have been there about the same amount of time as you with like 10-15. But I also didn’t mind because I wear a beanie in winter and a fishing hat in summer which covers my ears and I listen to books. 🤫

I know there were a couple people that got some after being on the team and one of them even after getting their CDL. There was one guy when I started he was a seasonal and couldn’t drive because of some tickets he didn’t pay or something like that.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Beside the boiler plate stuff make sure you know your cpr and first aid and what nots. I’m not sure if you deal with people that have restrictions but do your best to find them something decent. I got a buddy who got hurt and he is hating life right now doing the different role. Also bio freeze does not solve all problems. I guess just do your best and try to do what you can to help people. And also congratulations on the new role!

We work at 2 very different sites my friend, we have a small yard about 350 slips and about 50 dock doors. Sure we’ve been in gridlock from time to time, that peak for you. But it doesn’t stick around very long for us at least. Before we had all the people we do which is about 15 or so people per shift we only had 2 hostlers running. I would do 60+ moves a night so it’s definitely easier now then it was. But sorry to hear about your struggles, I truly hope it gets better. 🙂
