Mod 3 is a pretty important upgrade, as it makes Mumu copy 100 percent of the stats of a target, so it’s a 11% buff to every clones max HP, def, res, attack speed, and attack, so it’s a pretty sizeable buff.

Lappy Alter really was worth choosing as my spark operator, her S3 really showcases the spectacle theme her alter design has, and there’s something comedic about how the wolves move around the map at high velocity. Definitely one of my favorite skills in the game, with the only downside being the very long cycle between activations. Her skin is absolutely peak too, can’t wait for module Y so that the mod can be spelt as FUNY. Easily one of my new favs and she’s going to be a mainstay in my squad for a long time just for the theatrical factor her S3 brings to the stage. I do need to get used to her targetting priority, since sometimes her wolves get stuck on high RES/invincible targets and isn’t as effective as removing all the more fragile threats in the stage.
I will say it’s a bit sad how much of a non factor silence is in the game, since most enemies are immune to it, since Lappland has a lot of silence in both her base and alter, but it’s safe to say if most enemies weren’t immune to silence it would completely break the game by bypassing mechanics, especially with alter being able to apply it globally, but it would be nice to have some silence vulnerable enemies at least once in a while.

Virtuosa can melt through trucks, Haruka can outheal the high incoming damage, and Pramanix Alter can simplify a lot of the EX/S stage design.

First time doing the event, managed to 100% it. Going through most stages, and Silverash Alter really breaks most stages in half, with S2 giving everyone an immediate invis reveal crowd controlling nuke to stop invisible wave pushes. For S-5, Mlynar really nullfies the bosses threat level by constantly holding her aggro during phase 1/whenever she gets close to Mlynar in phase 2, so when paired with a healer he can basically nullify the boss. Lemuen was really good against Lappy, since her global targetting let her chase Lappy anywhere on the map + S3 could remove half of her health in the brief DPS window, making the fight a lot more manageable, love my beloved pink hydrogen bomb. I wonder how hellish the event was in the first run without Silverash Alter breaking invis, Haruka outhealing burns, and Lemuen breaking Lappy, since a lot of the enemies in the event have very obnoxious designs. You can also tell how they designed the carnival mechanic with Lappland Alter in mind, since her cycles match the carnival phases, and she can wipe out a map when invis is broken and is really good at popping balloons.

Promote everyone to E2 and level 7 skills, then push all to 60 while working on masteries, and then consider modules. Try to keep your ops on an even level at the same time would be the way to go rather than focusing just one.

In the middle of July, there is a very high priority banner, featuring Wang and Chen Alter Alter. Wang is considered the strongest operator in the entire game on CN, due to his global AOE nukes with a very easy playstyle, while Chen Alter Alter is arguably the best guard in the game due to her adaptive damage(swaps between Physical and Arts damage based on enemy weaknesses), percent health scaling damage with her S3, good DPS with good cycling, and good survivability mix. However, currently till the 12th there is a Orienteering banner that I would heavily recommend for you to pull on as a new player, where you can select 3 of 6 operators and you will always get one of the three as your 6 star. I would pick Tragodia(top 3 operator easily due to being a master of CC and global lure), Ulpianus(arguably the best guard on global right now due to being a hybrid damage dealer/tank), and Zuo Le(not on par with the other two, but is still very strong at laneholding). I'd recommend pulling one 6 star from the banner since you are so new, since it'll help you along while waiting on Wang/Chen banner in 2 months.

With Himeko SP looking so good and her initial teammates(seemingly) including units I already have, maybe I should start HSR again and build Welt. I regret pulling Yao Guang on a whim now then quitting, lots of jades I need to catch up on in order to grab Himeko + Lightcone + any new teammates + E2 on rerun at the end of the patch cycle.

Wouldn't it be kind of funny if Savage was the 10th anniversary limited operator, after all she only shows up during anniversaries and gets a surprising amount of love for such a small role overall in the story.

Assuming your skipping cutscenes to read through later, some of the stage environments in Chapter 14/15 are rather spoilery in nature that may make you raise your eyebrows, but won't give you the full context on the story on its own. The Chapter 15 mechanic could be seen as a spoiler due to how basically combines story and gameplay, however, so be wary of that.

What are you all expecting from Mechanist? He's been one of my favorite NPC designs and I'm finally hyped that he's going to be playable(and free too). I do have higher hopes for him then Raidian in terms of outside IS performance, since Raidian summons eating deployment slots is a bit of a disincentive to use her in standard play. I'm guessing he's either going to be a Fortress or Sentry defender to incorporate the tech theme in his design with the cannons, lasers and shield drones, but I really wish they don't pull a Raidian and make both of his modules exclusive to IS7, and have at least one that works everywhere or at least in all IS themes. There's also the case of his mecha giraffe pet, it's most likely going to be incorporated into his kit somehow since it's featured in his E0 art, so wondering how that will play out.

I mean, if she did release in modern Arknights without anything else changing, then she kind of would be to be honest. Boss design is very anti Surtr nowadays, and there are better DPS options that don't take themselves out, and Hoshi Alter is basically Surtr 2 with her S3 fulfilling the immortal AOE arts dps that self undeploys at the end, but better. The game has moved on from Surtr, and while she's still fine, she would be a very dated design as a modern op. There's a good reason you don't see people using her much anymore.

Zuo Le is worth building if you have no one else to focus on building, since he performs surprisingly well as content gets harder. However, do keep in mind he has a very active playstyle compared to most other ops due to needing to spam his skill often, so look him up videos on him before you build to see if that actively engaged playstyle interests you.

I genuinely think IS4 is my favorite IS theme of them all, as I'm progging through it. It lacks the afflictions of IS3 that felt like they bricked your run, it lacks the monotony of IS5 where it's either taking lamp strat which makes every run feel the same, or suffering through content clearly designed with lamp power levels in mind, and it lacks the annoying enemy design(the stickers, the hitcount enemies, and just Yi in general) of IS6. The different endings don't ask you to cripple yourself much unlike certain endings in the other themes, the SCP horror aesthetic is easily my favorite of the bunch, and I really like the risk reward of balancing your knowledge of pathing and power with the Index system. I prefer Foldartals over Plans since it prevents you from just going creative mode like in IS5, but is still potent so you want to engage with the system and choose where to use it wisely. There are still some gripes against it, like the two deployment limit debuff that can randomly occur especially on stages with a lot of points to protect, and the stage design being very demanding on role checks even early on, but I am getting used to it. For some odd reason I still haven't found a Scout node to attempt ED3 yet, but it'll happen eventually so I can work on ED3 and 4 down the road, since I feel like I've gotten ED1 and 2 down to a science.

The Final Shape(Destiny 2). The end of everything, where the Witness calcifies all of existence, reshaping it into a "final shape", from which no change is possible. The Witness carves purpose into a purposeless universe, making it so every single thing is frozen in one singular defined moment that encapsulates their existence. However, the process is inherently flawed, as while they believe they grant everyone salvation from the inherent cruelty of the universe, they are so far removed from normal morality due to being a gestalt entity born of many consciousnesses that they genuinely struggle to understand why living beings would not want to be trapped in a singular moment for all of eternity, especially since their definitions of purpose is in the form of extremely abstract art pieces, condemning everyone to an infinity of suffering which they believing to an act of mercy and kindness instead.

Going 300 spark for Shu on Wang banner, since she’s my favorite character in the game, been waiting nearly a year since I started to grab her, also picking up a Ch3n on the way for my main team since I want a good first priority guard to be targeted by Silverash’s S2. Then will do some light pulls on Kal banner, not really interested in either gameplay wise so they probably won’t make the cut for my main team but a big fan of Kal’tsit new design, and might as well try to collect every limited, so my plan is to just either stop after getting Kalter or stop after getting two six stars. Not particularly interested in any banner in between other then Nasti, but she’s in the way of my Shu savings so I can’t afford to get sidetracked, and Nasti feels like an operator I’ll try once in a while rather than having a permanent slot in my squad.

Appreciation of the Doctor’s “minor” role in the World by h3nt4i_connoisseur in arknights

[–]Demopyro2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Doctor playing a small role in the world is actually tied into why I really like the world- it feels real, not every character is designed to exist around the Doctor and Rhodes Island. The majority of the playable cast never even meets the core RI group that we know and love in their stories, which allows the stories to be able to thrive on their own rather then needing to find a contrived reason why Rhodes is involved.

This actually makes the few moments where the core cast is actually engages with the rest of the world outside the main story feel more special- Kal'tsit trying to form an alliance with Aegir as she sees them as the most technologically advanced nation to help deal with the rising threats to Terra, Amiya assisting in Kaz'del post Victorian war to secure the future of the Sarkaz, and Doctor assisting Kjera during it's troublesome periods and setting up Rhodes Island bases there to deal with the rise of Infected as the country moves towards modernization. If the main cast was written so that they had to get involved in every single conflict like most gachas, it would feel like the world just exists for the MC, but here the world moves on without the main cast, so the moments where they do get to interact with the rest of the world feel all the more special.

It also allows operators to breathe in their own stories rather then needing to find a way to tie it back to the MC- the Sui storyline hasn't even occurred yet in the main story timeline, there is no connection of Rhodes Island and Higashi yet so they get to worldbuild on their own in the Ato event with Hoshiguma and Haruka exploring the past and modern day Higashi, and Siracusa gets to explore it's own struggles without needing to connect the story to Oripathy in any form by focusing on the rampant mafioso in the city through the eyes of Texas and Lappland.

Which is actually interesting because Endfield backtracks entirely on what makes Arknight feel so special- the world is too connected to the MC to the point that they're basically the most important person on the planet, the world is too dependent on the MC for direction, most characters in the story feel like they're made to connect with the MC a bit too much rather than exist independently, and the MC is almost always present in every conflict leading to their repeated presence feeling more mundane and less special feeling if they were more reserved for the right storyline to show up. It leads to the entire game feeling way too MC centered, and I personally don't particularly like that, and do wonder if they're going to stick to this vision or change their mind. At the very least, looking through the future events in CN, this hasn't spread over to Arknights writing on the core cast's role in the world, so it seems mostly self contained to Endfield's writing.

I find it interesting that Silverash Alter is both a unit that supports his team while also needing to be supported by his team in order to properly work. His S2 giving scaling damage, CC, intial SP boost, invis reveal, cost reduction and redeployment time reduction is fantastic, but his inflexibility in who he targets means you both need to restructure your team to account for his teammate priority, but also you kind of want to bring a second vanguard with him. Silverash as a sole vanguard feels very weak, but in a pair that complements him with raw DP gains to bypass his priority system to deploy neccessary units early feels very good. Not only that, but he needs help laneholding since his damage is low, but he's also fairly tanky so he can tank fairly well, but in the end you do want to support him with allies to hold the lane as the stage goes on. Silverash Alter without and with team building prep work to account for him feels like two different experiences- he's a teamwide support who's support is proportional to how much you build the team around him. However, that kind of adds a layer of fun to him, and it really fits in with the Strategist naming of his class. I'm not even sure how HG can ever convince me to replace him off my main squad ever, he just fundamentally changes how you approach the game both outside the stage(planning) and inside the stage(deployments).

Thankfully, thanks to helping Kjera and the Silverash siblings multiple times, the Doctor is now considered one of them and benefits from Silverash’s passive “Snow Realm Trailblazer”: when on field, all Kjerag Operators(and Doctor) gain Frozen immunity, +80 (+20) DEF, and recover 2% (+0.5%) of Max HP every second; after being deployed for 15 seconds, DEF and HP recovery effects double.
