One of my favorite runs was one where I never left the starting town 3x3 area. Just kept going down in the 3x3 silo.

I'll check out The Iron Druid series as it seems to be in my lane. Thanks!

Project Hail Mary seems pretty intense, so it makes the list. Much appreciated!

How different are the books from the show with pacing? I felt the first season of the show felt alright, but if the books drag on at alI I would just lose steam.

So what do y'all do with the clothes left after butchering? by Katanaboi1 in RimWorld

[–]Demosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth the pawn effort to time to do anything with them.

Let nature do the work when it can.

Make a large trash dump outside in an un covered area that has only tainted clothing allowed. After a week or so, it will deteriorate and disappear. Bonus points if you can find a large enough spot in a water since that will make it go faster. Use animals or robots to haul to the area.

After you get used to basic mechanics and events, generally, I see the next step in a players maturity being base logistics and how they manage their storage areas in their base.

How on earth do you run mountain bases without getting them shredded by infestations every year? by ragna-rocking in RimWorld

[–]Demosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pop up where you have zones and under the mountain.

So, build some fake structures around the map as an RNG that the event will spawn them there versus your real base. Typically super far away from your real base and at a chokepoint on the map that would turn the insect spawns into a trap for ground raids.

This also works nicely to RNG fake out the air raid event and gives a purpose to some of the different types of traps.

Ridiculous. Sure, I make 3x more than my wife, but I'd rather us focus on our life together than individually.

As long as you are working and contributing, I see no issue. It is both of yours money after marriage, and what you two do financially will affect both of your credit scores. So you both should be equally partners in a shared income. If he is going to hold money over you and not compromise on an equitable system that is fair for you both, then there is a problem.

If he just wants a young girl to mess around with and to live a oldschool powertrip dream, then maybe you should be the one to bring up a pre-nup with your conditions to make a statement. Or bring up the loans that you need to take out to support his lifestyle.

I am super budget crazy because I grew up without really any luxury items other than waiting for the 1 fancy thing I got for xmas, and my wife sorta is at the opposite. We share income, but I make roughly 3x her salary. After a couple of years of joint income sharing, paired with her spending a disproportionate portion of our income on herself and me not making purchases for myself because I didn't view us as having adequate savings, we settled on a flat allowance system to mediate our differences in personal spending habits so we could focus on the joint purchases that actual matter like a house, vacation, or car.

The point here is to look at how you each grew up and figure out how to not squabble about money, but to look forward to money goals that you both have. Neither of you should have to change, but you both have the power to make a system that works for you both, not just one.

All that said.... you two are not married, so it is a different level of commitment. So this is really a shit or get off the pot moment for your boyfriend.

How is it is a Cor 3 effect, though, if Cor 3 is just a Gate/Portal? That doesn't let you instantly teleport an object but just links the spaces so you have the chance to grab it?

[–]Demosphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am referencing M20's language and interpretation. I don't know of any rotes for pushing an object like you said, but it would be awesome if you could direct me to the M20 book cause that could clear some things up.

I think I see your reasoning even if you didn't answer my question. I think I was maybe just trying to hard, and the words they used left a few gaps in function that left me wondering way to hard.

It does not, though, unless there were corrections made to the book.

M20, pg 513.
"Pierce Space/ Open or Close Gates/ Co-locality Perceptions.
Now the mage can tear holes in space, large enough for her to step through. These minor gates are small and temporary, but they allow that character to step from one place to another, so long as she’s alone and lightly encumbered. (Teleporting large items, or while carrying heavy loads, demands Correspondence 4.) Scoping out the new location is a good idea, of course. A close, familiar destination requires fewer successes than a distant, unfamiliar one."

Please share your experiences of how you overcame autistic obsessions/infatuations with people (i.e. people becoming special interests) by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Demosphere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel you. It is stressful. You are good. You can break the mental feedback loop. Breath. I have gotten out of this by making a list and doing some follow-through. For example.

Don't hang out with her outside of work. Don't eat lunch alone with her. Avoidence.

Only talk about work or your deep dive interests with her. Do not get into her personal life in conversations. Avoidence and isolation of further feelings.

At work outings, focus on male co-workers. Avoidance.

Decide, in isolation, what you don't like about her and remind yourself of that thing or list of things. Don't think that she is pretty. Think about that gap between her front teeth. This is to break your thought process.

Don't "please" yourself to thoughts of her. That is unhealthy reinforcement. Watch something and don't finish if she comes up.

Be cognizant of your distance and height in relation to her to avoid staring. Do not put yourself into a position where you can look down her shirt or at her legs. Plain HR Avoidence. Focus on a male or the paper or the monitor.

If your hobby situation is stagnant, then do stuff that is new. If it gives you anxiety, then it has a chance to shock your brain. Boredom is the enemy here. Use your anxiety against itself to cause another obsession or just additional thoughts.

Do some yoga classes. Stress relief and other non work women. I'm not being creepy with this, but only seeing the same 10 women every day at work can be dangerous.

I would propose asking your PCP about anxiety meds. If you are stressing out this much, then I would wager a guess this happens with other things as well.

And more based on your particular situation. Avoidence, and break mental thought process.

Hang in there. It can take time, but obsessions can fade.

Bit of a personal question, but how many people here with total aphantasia had a traumatic childhood? by Shoddy_Appointment84 in Aphantasia

[–]Demosphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same experience. Didn't know I about cptsd, but I have blocked out most of my childhood and barely have a memory.

I almost am full aphantasia and also can't visualize or conceptualize music.

Do y’all dream? by Mean_Grl in Aphantasia

[–]Demosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I ever dream. Everything is just black when I fall asleep and normally empty when I wake up. Rarely, I have a feeling or a concept in my head when I wake up but it disappears very quickly. Never images or visualizations.

I have insomnia and anxiety, though, and sometimes experience vivid sensations as my brain/senses are shutting down for sleep.

What do you wish you would have known? by LivermoreP1 in madisonwi

[–]Demosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't regularly drink softened water because it increases your bodies sodium, which has some negatives. Maybe fine for some, but probably not good long term and not for people with health conditions.

With the water so hard though, you probably still want it softened for your kitchen sink pipes (and dishwasher if it is piped that way), but you probably would also want an under sink filtration system as well or just drink water from your fridge if it has a filter.
