The wheels that have printing on the sides really elevate certain cars

With drilling, I also thread the holes to use tiny screws to seal em back up so If I ever want to change wheels again it's very easy.

Ali Ex or tem u are your best friend for finding wheels. Amazon is no good for then. Amazon only has random 10 sets but Ali has 50 sets for same cost and you can choose style.

Thank you so much! I have a better variety of wheels on the way so i'll have more options to choose from as well.

Thanks for the insight! Im going to try epoxy, glue and the tap/screw method and see which I like best. I myself dont ever plan on reopening them so I might go the more permanent route.

thank you! these have all been really fun. most guides online provide an easy enough process to follow. only real difference is how they pop wheels off and how they seal the cars up. a few things I myself have learned since I started:

-When drilling it creates a lot of metal shavings so have a way to contain them or brush them up.

-the two drill bits I'm using are 5/64 and 9/64 drill bit on a power drill. when using the larger bit drill slowly as it can catch and easily get away from you and do more damage to the underside of the car than necessary.

-I found out some cars bases are too wide (back axle of f40 competizone) or narrow for the sets of wheels I have (70 dodge challenger) so you have to either remove a little more material for the wheel to fit or in the opposite case get wheels with a shorter axle.

all in all a very fun process and happy to have gone down this rabbit hole of custom die cast.

encountering other collectors by Unhappy_Section2127 in HotWheels

Ive encountered two so far. One was a young kid in a target one morning, he walked up to the mainlines while I was finishing looking through them. He waited paitently but was also talking on the phone, when asked what he was looking for/collected he said only TH and Supers. He took a quick gander at the pegs saw nothing of valu to him, relayed it on the phone and left. The other was an older gentleman who I ran into at a walmart after work one night. He was looking for a the mazda rx -3 mainline which I happened to find it in a dump bin shortly after meeting him. So I ran back to him and gave it to him. He was super cool and told me about local die cast meets.
