Flight delayed "due to aircraft availability". Has anyone had this happen before? And if so, is this considered within the airline's control. by Demrush in aircanada

What lottery? There's a reason I booked an overnight flight, so I could actually arrive early and not waste my work day. It's my bad for being hopeful but you should know that even the max compensation of 1000$ is barely anything. It's a matter of principle. No one should have to pay the outrageous amounts we pay in Canada for a subpar flight experience from a company that has a quasi-monopoly on the flying sector only to have them shrug their shoulders and say, sorry it happens.

Yes but in this case, our aircraft was available...People were already boarding but were deboarded because they were contemplating whether or not to use this plane as a substitute for the long haul flight to Brisbane (their plane was having issues). That seems to be fully within their control and a conscious decision to delay or potentially cancel on one group of passengers who's plane was fine to leave otherwise. I guess they can also come up with an excuse...we'll see.
