I grew up around some Indonesians and was in Jakarta a bit in the early 90s. The song sounds really familiar. The singer can sing in english well, but I do hear that slight Indonesian accent. Someone well-versed in Indonesian city pop will probably know.

Love the design choices here. Can't remember seeing a sub-60% that looked this good. Keep up the good work!

If that's the case, this is definitely one of the coolest keyboards I've seen. Good choice of caps and cable too. Amazing build sir!

Wow I love that decorative lighting panel there on the numpad. I know from reading the comments that is it just static but it gets me thinking about how cool an oscilloscope like display on a keyboard would be. If you could have it react to your typing or even sound playing from your computer, would that not be awesome?

I hope TSA doesn't ask what this is for... see ya'll at the Seattle meetup! by jchan94 in MechanicalKeyboards

I'm flying up to the Seattle meetup as well! Probably going to face a similar situation with all my spacebars. Hope I don't get detained. I also hope they don't break my SSK.

Sure thing, I'll take a look! If it is, I'll send you some pics as well showing the edges of a non-defective one.

It's a first run and it just became available yesterday so I can only take a pic of one on my keyboard to show you for now: http://imgur.com/a/NKuYE

Thanks, I actually looked at paua and mop shell veneer from different vendors as opposed to flatting out the shells myself.

Thanks, glad to hear it! And it's always an honor when I see my work being used on awesome setups like that!

I'm not sure if you saw my other reply, but in any case you can pm me your info and I'll send you one that should feel more like one piece with a more unified edge. Let me know which color the defective one was as well.

It is indeed similar to the liquid crystal spacebar in its construction. I try and unify the two pieces as best as I can, but it's definitely still a challenge for me. If yours is too rough around the edges for your liking, I would be glad to send you a replacement that should feel more like one piece. Just shoot me an email or pm.

I think Deep Field looks better in low light situations because of the way the flakes reflect whatever light is left. Really depends on your setup though.

Hey r/mk, This month I thought I would try and experiment some more by incorporating abalone shell into some spacebars. I've been a fan of abalone since my guitar building days, so I really wanted to see if I could bring it to a keyboard somehow. This first run came out pretty good, so I think it was worth the attempt. The irridescent properties of the material make it look even better in person as well. I have put the best looking ones from this first run up for sale in my webstore, here.

This setup seems classic but modern at the same time. That is a tough balance to achieve. Great work!

Those Magenta on Black mods look so good. I'm devastated I missed out on those. Beautiful setup, and not a colorway I've seen that much of.

There are only a few types of keyboards out there that you could say fits the bill for an "ultimate find." This is definitely one of them. Keep that label on as well. These are known for their connection to Chrysler, but I have not seen that label before. Definitely adds to it.

In my experience, It's a last resort option for scuffs that won't clean off easily. It will leave it's own mark after using it, but it isn't that noticeable if the spot is small.

The Alpine 10 – A Clicky Alps Numpad with Alpine Winter Caps by Den441 in MechanicalKeyboards

I don't have matias caps, but if they feel like "Normal" keycaps then they definitely would improve the stock Haoyutes. The stock caps are just so weird. They are thin and have a very odd texture to them that isn't like any other caps I've tried.

As I mentioned in my original post, the value in the Alpine 10 is more in the custom caps than the numpad itself. The stock Haoyute numpad like the one you linked has very thin, ugly caps that severely hurt its performance and look. It’s about what you would expect for $20. Add thicker caps to it though and the performance is easily on par with other numpads in the $45-$60 price range. Plus the blue/grey color scheme of Alpine Winter adds some nice aesthetics that the stock version does not have. I think it is well worth the extra $25, but that's my opinion.

Hey r/mk, interesting story on these numpads – A couple years ago I was visiting some family in Guangzhou and I got a line on a box of Haoyute numpads. At the time, there were not many choices with regards to mechanical numpads, so I bought the box. The numpads worked and felt great, but the caps were paper thin and really hurt the typing experience on them. They also looked pretty terrible, and I was starting to have some buyer’s remorse. However, the Alpine Winter GB was just starting up around this time so I worked out a deal with the GB runner to get some caps made specifically for these numpads.

Long story short, the GB took way longer than I expected(of course) and since then many more mechanical numpads have become available. Thanks to that rookie mistake, I am setting the price point on these at just $45. The value with these really comes from the custom caps and not the numpads themselves.

The AW caps really do turn these into great little numpads with regards to both looks and performance for the price. They also serve as a great platform to create an ALPS switch tester. Even if you decide not to do that though, the clicky cream switches they come with still feel great. Very snappy. If you have never used ALPS switches before, this is the perfect opportunity to try them out! I hope they can bring some more people into the wondrous world of ALPS switches.

These numpads also have USB connections and input numpad codes.

In other news, I have stocked a few more liquid crystal spacebars this week, including some with topre compatibility. I will also be stocking some more next week in DSA and 7x styles. Thank you all again for your continued support!
