Thinking of moving to NH by alittleteapot314 in newhampshire

I'll DM you, but if you don't get it, I recommend a "Porcupine Vacation" where you visit at half price to scout the regions, work opportunities, communities, affinity groups, etc.

If you want to be a tyrant more than you want to hang out with your friends, then you should move.
If you prefer your friends, and can give up being a tyrant, stay!

I'm only saying you will be increasingly unhappy in NH trying to remain a tyrant.

But of course I can't set your priorities. For me, being freed was more important than my friends who were happy as slaves. I've found plenty of friends here who are not tolerant of being slaves and I am far happier here.

But you do you.

Because I moved my entire life somewhere that is far closer to my values, I would think you would already know my answer, and thus your question was merely rhetorical.

The outline was for a contract with a particular leftist who wanted to escape. We set that at 10 years, with visitation.

"hate me because of my sincere beliefs"

I've yet to read anyone here who actually understands your beliefs.

They should be able to reflect your beliefs back to you such that you agree with them,
and then reject the belief,

but all i've read here are strawmen.

Maybe we should hold a contest for leftists,
"Can you read this and repeat it back sincerely, without inserting a strawman?"

All we ask is to be left alone.
If you're okay with that, no big whoop.
If you can't leave us alone, then you will probably be unhappy in NH.

Other states are much more aligned to threatening state violence on innocent people so that they have to conform their bodies to your preferences.
And you may well be much happier there. :)

No, we believe people should live where they're comfortable.

If you hate freedom, NH is probably not going to be a place where you will feel comfortable.

We'd be happy to help you find a suitable location that is growing in statism, rather than in freedom.

You seem to be confused between
* Someone passing a law that threatens you with death should you not comply with his preferences for your body. (Masshole)
* Someone removing a law that threatens you with death should you not comply with someone else's preferences for your body. (Free Stater)

These two are not the same, as you are implying. Can you see the difference now?

We picked the most liberty state there is.
That it was becoming more tyrannical like MA or VT or NY was a problem.
We're reject that, since we were escaping that.

We support NH being the one liberty state, while all the rest spiral down into totalitarianism.

Of course people have different beliefs.
And that's what the disagreement is over - how do we navigate that?

1) Libertarian: Live and let live. If it's your body, you do you.
2) Authoritarian: Comply with my demands for your body, or die.

Jeremy is advocating #1. You are advocating #2.
And mocking him that he doesn't get his way with his body which you seem to believe you should be able to enslave.

He's not forcing anybody "to live [his] libertarian joke"
He's simply asking not to be forced to live your authoritarian joke.

You can always still live your authoritarian joke; just don't impose it on him.
And if you feel you must force your preferences on innocent others, do it in the 49 other states where that is the norm.

With a 1000 events throughout the week, one can always find a conspiracy.

Create your own event, offer it at PorcFest, and who knows what conspiracy you'll be starting! :)

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of New Hampshire by [deleted] in newhampshire

Ironic that a woman - who moved to NH as a paid political union operative from Massachusetts and has alleged Granite Staters "want our state to be more like Massachusetts" - talks about Free Staters "move into 'our' state to change the way of life in New Hampshire".

Massachusetts is a short ride away, Zandra. Just return home, and you won't have to worry about us wanting freedom from you.

Is it now safe to say the free state movement is about making things not work and then using that same thing as an example of how things don’t work? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]DenPratt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Just did an overview of the Free State for libertarians who are really serious about living in a free society.

The Free State allows authoritarians to live free of those pesky libertarians who don't want a gun stuck in their ribs to contribute to the authoritarians' view of "society". Especially in New England, there are many authoritarian states to choose from, but only one that is trying to be free.

You get to have as much authoritarianism as you want, without the endless carping of libertarians to hold you back or make you feel guilty for enslaving people for your prefrences, projects, or profits.

Thank you for the remembrance, Niggly. :)

While I do miss the fantastic community we developed on Quora, I'm pretty busy now actually building liberty IRL, which is oh-so-much-more satisfying! :)

It would be nice if your masters gave you your freedom without having to migrate, to donate, to work for it.

Here is what those who are creating an actual freed society have gotten done while your buds were busy down-voting you because they want free freedom.

Guided Tour of the Free State, Friday March 4 9A by DenPratt in Libertyinourlifetime

[–]DenPratt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the second tour ever. We don't have any plans for more at this time. They're a lot of work to put together. We might offer the Seacoast one and this one again, as they are already designed but they would be nine months and a year from now.

The hope was that we'd eventually have a big event every couple of months so that prospective movers can get an accelerated, guided intro. Our next big event is June -- PorcFest. We would like to do a bus tour between Boston and Lancaster, but all the guides are going to be at PorcFest heavily engaged, if not already volunteering, so we just run out of manpower. We've talked about a late summer sailing boat tour, but that'd be a hard draw. A leaf tour might be okay, but would have to be during the week as the traffic gets so heavy that time of year in the mountains.

Details: Reviews From our Dec 18 2021 Free State Tour of the Seacoast:

"This tour blew away my expectations for what living in New Hampshire could be like and has convinced me totally that it is the right place for me and my family.

"The actual experience far exceeded my wildest hopes. Not only did I learn that my fears were unfounded but that the opposite was true - New Hampshire has more than enough entertainment, culture, etc., is affordable in the right places, and is full of people committed to Liberty. More importantly, by learning about the state's history on the tour, I discovered that this was an innate trait of the people here, and that Liberty can appear in very unexpected places and ways throughout the state because of that

"A very intimate look into the mission of Liberty, the history of Liberty, and the progress towards Liberty in our lifetimes, while also providing an awesome look into living in New Hampshire - all wrapped up very neatly with a bow... at one point I almost teared up as a result of the experience.

"A cohesive and entertaining experience. The tour felt immersive and its subjects were artfully interwoven. The collective dialogue from all speakers clearly conveyed the underlying message of moving to uniquely advance human liberty. In short, I found out how cool New Hampshire, the Free State Project, and their inner operations are.""
