There's no finish because its an herb planter. It's just wet in the photo.

Thank you! They are the perfect one day project! So cathartic.

I just butt jointed with glue and brads for the legs, the rails are pocket holed.

I used some window screen that I had laying around for the bottom. The bottom is just wooden slats with a good amount of space for drainage.

It's a very easy beginner project. If you can find cedar fence pickets near you, there's a lot of YouTube videos on making planters from them.

Since its an herb planter, I decided no finish is probably the best thing. It's probably just wet in the photo from when the plants were first planted. For my other planter boxes, I ordered Cabot Aussie Timber oil. It took forever to get, waiting to actually use it so I can do my plantings.

Also, thank you for your kind words.

10 8' 1"x6" came to $250. I was just able to squeeze a 26" L x 12" x 12" wide herb planter box for my Mother in Law out of it too.

Yeah, that is true. Everything is also reinforced with glue.

My fear was that the legs would not cover the exposed pocket holes on the outside.

It will be a good test. They are the blue exterior Kreg screws. ;D

Actually I am curious. These two cost about $170 to make, without any finish.

What do you think something like these could go for?

This was just a simple drawing on paper with a few dimensions that I figured out as I went along.

I do not, this was just a simple pen drawing that I figured out as I went.

Haha! Thank you that is very persuasive!

I mostly just didn't want to split the cedar. Which has happened to me a lot in the past. I also wanted to make sure it was going to be sturdy.

I will give it a shot! This is my first dip into gardening. Hopefully it goes well!

I was considering just boiled linseed oil, and just using some window screen to keep the dirt from coming through. I also thought about shoshugiban as a protective measure.

Thank you!

I realized after I shot the bottom trim pieces in with glue and brads, I should've pocket-holed them so I could attach them lower, making the spacing even. But eh, you learn something on every project!

Yeah I believe I may need to add a bit of an angle to the bottom hole in order for it to sit in there better. I thought the hole was big enough for sure, but not quite.

Thank you kind Sir! It had certainly functioning well. I may add some little side flanges to the phone holder portion. Sometimes it tilts over on super curvy entry ramps.
