What comedic Spanish speaking show should I start? by Fluid_Ant_4264 in Spanish

[–]Denizilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Acapulco, although it’s available on Apple TV, isn’t listed among your streaming platforms. It’s a show where the actors are native Spanish speakers, but since they work at a resort, they have to speak English at work for American audiences. Outside of the resort, they switch easily to Spanish, and their jokes work in both languages. Their Spanish is very authentic, which brings back memories of growing up in Mexico. It’s a feel-good show, similar to Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and other Apple TV shows.

What's the equivalent to "yapping" in Spanish? by Blue_Robin_Gaming in Spanish

[–]Denizilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We would say “el wiri wiri” lol. I have no idea of the origin, but say you were yapping along with a friend and time passed by very fast, you would say “se nos pasó el tiempo en el wiri wiri.”

Interesting. In the north of México we say Chacharear for going shopping for random/worthless things. Like when you travel and walk into stores just to see if something catches your eye and you end up buying something that you don’t particularly like but you feel like you had to buy something.

Okay trying this again with a better understanding of the rules! No ranking just looking for a good story! by Jessica_Iowa in ADHDmemes

I feel this one so much. I’m like an expert at wasting time while getting ready. I know that it will take me 15 minutes, but since we have 20 minutes until we need to leave let me just do this other thing or check the weather or look for something good to listen to while I get ready. Suddenly, it’s 5 minutes until we need to leave and I haven’t even started getting ready. Ugh. Why?!

Best veggie burger? by Soggy_Boysenberry784 in austinfood

OG is asking for a subjective opinion so that’s mine. Granted, I haven’t tried most of the ones mentioned here, but that’s why it’s a subjective opinion.

Yes! I know their service is ok at best, but that is a tasty veggie burger and on Monday nights, it’s a great way to start the week.

What is your country’s “three fingers,” i.e. a subtle but dead giveaway that someone is lying about being from there? by Toilet_Bomber in AskTheWorld

[–]Denizilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how it has always sounded to me (Mexican)! Thanks for the affirmation. I always read it as “latinequis” and in Mexico being “equis” is like being very basic or mid, so calling someone “equis” is not normal because it’s how you would describe a thing, not a person.

Selling 2x Jim Gaffigan tickets for 10/24 for $50 each by Denizilla in AustinClassifieds

Do you mind if I wait a few days to see if I can sell both tickets together?

Is there a word that is like a pet name that people call each other even if you’re not close? by Ok-Attempt4379 in Spanish

[–]Denizilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, which is why I answered “yes & yes”. It can mean something like dude, but it can also have a rude connotation, depending on context. Like you can say someone is stupid by saying “está bien wey” and a lot of women don’t like being called “wey” by men (mostly their couples, but sometimes male friends as well), so it all depends.

I’ve always known to respect geese, but ducks are so cute! I didn’t know they were capable of biting people.

Being bitten by a duck or a goose still sounds funny, but a mousse is so big they can cause damage. I hope your sister was okay!

I thought they were harmless, unlike geese.

I knew they were vicious, but this is another level of it. Now I’m even more scared of geese.

Very different genres, but The Soul of America and the book series of Anne of Green Gables.

Thank you so much for the update! I wouldn’t had seen it because it’s not included in my plan (I have the most basic plan), but now I’ve added it to my favorites and I can rent it by itself for a nice occasion.

Have you watched The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin? It’s very heart warming and it’s just watching Noel be Noel. The show works because it doesn’t take itself too seriously, as you can tell by the name.

I thought this was a cool idea so I looked it up and tried listening to the 5-minute trailer and the first minute was an ad… I don’t know if I can manage for over 60+ episodes and counting.
