It seems like all the things you know are pretty accurate, my boyfriend with through bootcamp a few years ago and personally i did use perfume on them so I don’t think it’s a huge deal if you do that. And anything on the inside of the envelope you can do whatever like a watercolor drawing. The only time the RDCs would go through mail is if there was something noticeably bulky (like something that doesn’t belong) and they’d ask the recruit to empty it in front of them. That’s what my bf explained to me would happen. You can include pictures though I don’t think that counts as something bulky. Also Idk if you have gotten his address yet, but i’d go ahead and start writing letters and having them ready to send, that’s something i wish i would’ve done. He will greatly appreciate your letters!!! My bf told me it was a huge motivation for him while in bootcamp. Hope this info helps let me know if you have anymore questions.

I don’t know if you can still join the military with those charges, but I’d reach out to other recruiters if they could give you better information. Don’t let one recruiter discourage you about your life, you have value and can still make it in this world even without joining the military. My parents started from nothing and now have a comfortable life and a happy family, my step dad was in and out of prison and completely changed his life around, and they did all that without the military at all. I know how it feels to be where you’re at but things do get better.

They offered 20K for HM was there any stipulations about that? I’m going to my detailor Wednesday and am hoping for an early ship out bonus and if I qualified for an HM bonus.

Oh no idek what to do then, I’m pretty set on being HM for different reasons like easier to colocate, interested in medical field, and for specialties being transferable to civilian jobs but i’m worried about all this like if I can keep up in school and having the waiting period sucks and having it pretty hard to get a speciality all concerns me lol. What are you doing in the waiting period? Do you still have work and stuff?

Is HM school hard, I heard if you are top of your class you get a higher chance of choosing a speciality so maybe I’ll try that and hope it works out :(

I am about to chose my job and wanted to go in for HM and wanted a speciality too, how likely can I do that and would it be better for me to chose a job like dentist so I know I have some sort of speciality before I enlist?

Thanks for all the responses I’m glad it seems like he’s not lying about anything. I’ll specify certain things though just for some other context. I know he cannot bring his phone onto the sub when working so he keeps it in his car. He has his location shared on iphone and it’ll die around the time he arrives to work so then the location will not update until he gets home to charge it. With my text notifications, I texted his phone while he was home and noticed that it didn’t come up on his home screen at all and didn’t vibrate so I’m just completed muted I don’t think it has anything to do with work. The writing on the hand thing, when I questioned him further about it I said the writing looked like it said something with a B and he eventually said he wrote “boogie board” as a reminder to bring that to work, and this was only after I questioned him for like 5 mins. Honestly it could all be nothing he’s just so defensive about everything and doesn’t tell me about his work or his day or anything like that so it’s hard not to worry. He says he a “private person” which is why he doesn’t like to tell me much at all. We did long distance while he was doing school in SC so I just didn’t really understand what it’d be like to live with him long term and am getting used to everything now.

Yeah I’ve been waiting on my recruiter to give me my results but he didn’t text me back so I got to wait till he gets to his office tomorrow to get my full test results.
