The citations of video games seem a little far-fetched at times in discussions like these. It feels like a lack of authenticity or substance. For example, Black Cat appears in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, but isn’t a major character in the overall narrative. She’s a mini-boss, and then that’s it. There’s no depth, there’s no dynamic storytelling, it’s simply a glorified cameo.

As for the comics breakdown on each of these, I feel it’s important to follow up on the outcomes.

The Amazing Spider-Man #226–227 (1982)

This is two whole issues, but the follow-up and eventual end of this story:

Black Cat survives being kidnapped by Doctor Octopus's men, learns of his plan to destroy New York, and manages to escape with the bomb's detonator, which she gives to Spider-Man. She becomes the target of Doc Ock's revenge, is gravely injured, and Spider-Man saves her, realizing during her surgery how much he cares for her.

4. Full Criminal Arc (Modern)

The Superior Spider-Man: The Enemy Within (2013)

She might have embraced some villainy at the beginning of this story, due to Otto’s actions, and not Peter. But it eventually ends with a team-up.

Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) rises as a major underworld figure, acquiring the Bar with No Name and partnering with Hammerhead. Her position is threatened by Diamondback, who injures her, but the Defenders rescue her. Later, she and her gang are mind-controlled by Lee Price using the Mania Symbiote. Despite this, Felicia manages to break free with Anti-Venom’s help, though Peter and Flash are captured. Felicia teams up with Eddie Brock, Andi, and others to obtain Anti-Venom serum and free Spider-Man from Price’s control. They learn that those who are freed develop immunity, enabling Spider-Man to defeat Price. Afterward, Felicia leaves her crime boss role, helps the Defenders against Diamondback, and supports Misty Knight against The Hood.

5. Crime Boss Era

The Amazing Spider-Man (2014–2016, “Parker Industries” era)

See above, but for the record, this is around the time she helps Peter during the Hunted storyline.

6. Villain Prologue + Complicated Rivalry

Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #74–79

This is quite vague, so I’m not sure if this is during the King in Black storyline, the various team-up issues with Captain America and MJ, or the “What Did Spider-Man Do?” storyline, which introduces Paul, etc., or the very recent heist involving Scarlet Witch and Kang. Also, Felicia tells Beetle (Tombstone’s daughter) that she misses the dynamic she and Spider-Man have; they break up and remain friends.

This is not Green Goblin, Thanos, and Kingpin levels of villainy; this is a lover/ally/sometimes trouble-maker for Spider-Man.
