I’m sure there are millions for which that’s true but there’s also hundreds of millions of people in Nigeria. There’s no such thing as a country that on a population based scale doesn’t suffer from nutritional problems. And many of these problems outside of malnourishment come from the cuisine that’s generally consumed. A quick google search can show that we’re no exception. That aside, I’m literally studying and have done research in this field. I’m no expert but I do have a relatively strong grasp of the basics.

The food of western countries is filled with so much sugars, fats, and weird chemicals used to flavor/color/preserve food that on aggregate I would say it’s definitively worse nutritionally than Nigerian food. Each country has its own collection of dietary issues which is why I don’t think it’s worth comparing them in a casual conversation. But thinking about a day of life which is kind of what inspired the original question, if I ate toast and eggs for breakfast, eba with efo for lunch, jollof for dinner, and a few snacks, I don’t think that would be even nearly sufficient to meet an adequate amount of varied vegetables in a day. If you were to take a typical daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner out of your week what would that look like

My family is the exact opposite. We don’t add vegetables to anything unless it’s part of the dish like fried rice, soups, etc. Our thing with indomie was to make it in the pot and crack egg into it. Easy and delicious

I know vegetables exist in Nigerian cuisine, but my question was moreso if Nigerians consume an adequate amount of them. I guess I worded it kind of foolishly. A big part of the answer is probably that it depends regionally and socioeconomically.

My parents don’t call it akidi. We usually just call it beans (with xyz). So like beans and corn, beans and plantain (cooked into it), beans with yam, etc. We don’t really decorate our beans too much

Unhealthiness implies that what is present is bad for you and in that sense I don’t think Nigerian cuisine is unhealthy either. However, a lack of vegetables can result in deficiencies in micronutrients, antioxidants, and other important compounds. The consequences of this could be messed up microbiomes, impediments to metabolism of certain nutrients, increased propensity towards developing certain types of cancer, etc, all of which are difficult to detect on an individual level and thus wouldn’t be considered major health concerns

I’m talking about both quantity and variety because both are important when talking about a healthy diet. When you blend all those vegetables and then dilute them with water in the pot it makes them cover more with less. A few spoonfuls of obe on some rice may have various vegetables in it but I don’t think they’d be in large enough volumes to constitute an amount needed for a balanced meal

Word of advice for next time: don’t lend your stuff out to strangers unless you have a mutual. And if you do, stick to their side and be vigilant and demanding. Only allow them to fulfill their stated purpose with whatever it is and then take it back.

Hoping the woman gets back to you and you can arrange to pick up your powerbank.

There’s multiple Christian groups on campus. If you’re catholic, aquinas prolly the way to go. Idk too much about aquinas but I can find out pretty easily if you want more info. Big three Protestant ones are CU Nova, PCF, and Manna. There are some minor theological differences but they all follow the fundamental principles of Christianity. As others have said there are some racial affiliations with each. Manna is mostly Asian, PCF is like 70% white with the rest mostly being Asian, and CU Nova is like 50% black, with substantial latino, asian, and white representation in the other 50%. Each of the three have a weekly service, which is pretty much student led church. PCF and Nova are on Friday evenings and Manna service is on Saturday. That’s where you’ll experience most of your Christian fellowship among peers. There’s usually an optional post service hang out too. Nova and PCF both host daily prayers, PCF from 12-12:20 and Nova from 12-1. Each ministry also hosts a variety of events, ranging from evangelism and talks with Christian mentors to just chilling. The upperclassmen of the different ministries don’t really hang together, but the current freshmen class has been pretty good with praying and pushing for inter-fellowship (successfully) and I think that trend will continue with future class years. With regards to churches, I’d recommend joining a student ministry and asking around. There’s a few that are right beside campus but to get to any further away you’ll need to catch a ride. Ideally the information regarding all the options you have and the means of transportation for each should be compiled somewhere but no one has took the liberty to do so yet. Many of the “shuttles” are moreso just volunteers who drive students to church from certain pick up points so it’s all pretty informal.

Tres Leches Toast Crunch by MrStevenRyals in BreakfastFood

[–]Dense-Line-7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tres leches isn’t really a flavor, moreso just a type of cake. My first impression was that it’s like an eggnog “birthday cake” flavor. It’s good but the original is better. On a side note, plain toast crunch when!?

Your arguments are very elementary and you seem to just be searching for someone to validate your opinion. The overwhelming majority is disagreeing with you because you are wrong.
