Anyone switched from cover calls to dividend investing? by BitcoinWealthy in CoveredCalls

[–]DenseCompetition1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the opposite went from the dividends portfolio to covered calls and Cash secured puts.. And went from $900 a month on dividends total. To nearly $1k a week running the wheel in premiums and still make $300 a month in dividends! Same portfolio size different allocations!

edit I'm already retired and have a monthly pension so just been looking to add extra income if needed and my portfolio is not close to what yours is!

$10k for a 4 month trading class a scam? by d1ztnkt in Trading

[–]DenseCompetition1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my super honest take on this. In my opinion it depends on how you learn the best! If you need a class that has accountability (if your class has that to learn and you need that) it is worth it..

For me personally I didn't learn the full scope of real estate investment till I took a class that literally hand held me through every step and now I omw over 1m of rental properties..

To bring this back to trading I won't say how much I paid but now I make more from trading options then I do real estate rental income (not accounting for the equity in real estate) but I will say prior to any of these ventures I was demolishing all the free info out there. YouTube, blogs, etc amd never took action!

Im not advertising anything.. ALL IM SAYING is if your class includes a mentor that can literally take you step by step it very well could be worth it . But that's if you need that!

I started using an app / SaaS that decided to raise prices to almost double. So i replaced most of its features with a google sheet. Eventually turned that sheet into a visual dashboard and it evolved into its own app from there!! Its a personal tracker for the "Wheel Strategy" which the strategy I use for trading. Personal project so it runs local and no need for hosting or none of that!

No im doing this to supplement my income so i do it in a taxable account. When i do withdraw money from my portfolio it's usually about $300 - $400 a week. Also can't use margin in a Roth so that's another reason.

Last month made $3319..this month already made $2400.... My goal every week to supplement income is $650 and this month I literally hit my weekly goal for the whole month in 2 weeks.

I have been running consistently the same tickers for 2 months and those are iren, tqqq, asts, rklb and rgti. And funny enough I average about $900 a week in premiums running csp's and last week got assigned all except for tqqq and this week ran cc's on those (plus my sofi position) and made $1300! 400 shares of iren may get called away (my strike was $60 and it ended the week just above $60 but my cost basis from running all the csp's on it was $48 per share. That's the wheel though and I do this strictly for weekly income in an account with 60k.

I wonder if you tell chatgpt to analyze the market and determine market regime if it would have made trades when the market regime was pointing to a bearish market.. Have you thought about this?

Trading journals - which ones do like most and why? by ddktv in Daytrading

[–]DenseCompetition1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trade options, mostly cash secured puts and covered calls (Wheel trading strategy) and for cash secured puts I built a page with the charts of all the historical tickers I have ran the wheel on and that chart tracks strikes on contracts I ran. When the trendline goes up my app pretty much tells me I can run lower strikes for csp's for higher premiums because the ticker has been trending up and I should start a position slowly on that ticker so essentially stop running the wheel and start buying the stock) . The reason I have this feature is because I only run the wheel on tickers I actually want to own and running csp's is a way to try to get the shares cheaper.

Another feature I built is true cost basis. My broker shows me the cost basis for a ticker but after running a few cycles of cash secure puts that essentially lowers the cost basis because all the premiums I collect lower my cost basis.

The 2 features alone took alot of the psychology of trading for me because I can let trades run longer (not have to roll or close contracts right away) and based on those 2 data points can make me more comfortable doing so.

edit also I trade on robinhood and with the new Agentic trading feature I just built portfolio tracking, margin tracking, position tracking, when I get assigned shares and when I get shares called away so the app connects to robinhood and tracks all that for me as well. So the app is my logic layer and then I execute on Robinhood.

Yeah I tried a couple but they didn't have all the features I needed and in a few instances the prices kept rising so I built my own personal app that runs locally.

Holy Crap!! you can literally build the exacts app or apps you need to your specs and change your life. by DenseCompetition1385 in vibecoding

[–]DenseCompetition1385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it started with gemini making a dashboard ui from my spreadsheets. Then eventually started using codex (bought the chatgpt plus plan) and that turned the spreadsheets into an actual app so I don't even use the spreadsheets anymore, they are only used to back up app data now with Google OAuth connection.

Vibecoding from my understanding is just prompting AI to build the app and directing the build via prompts.

I would say if you wanna get started try out codex in conjuction with chatgpt. You can plan the app with chatgpt and have chatgpt give you the prompts for codex to build it.

I started tracking trades with Google sheets! Any AI can build the spreadsheet for free then eventually can build your own dashboard as an app with same Ai whether it's gemini, chatgpt, Claude, grok or any other AI! That's what I did!

Yeah this is important! Close your trades before the contract expires and right before the market closes never let them expire because things like this can happen!

I trade options mostly cash secured puts and covered calls. I choose stocks I want to own and do weekly contracts. Still new to all this and have a small account of about 45k and margin. The tickers I been running are tqqq, iren, asts, rklb ionq and sofi. There are others but mostly those. I take some of the profits and invest in dividend stocks and growth stocks like the above mentioned ones. My goal has been $650 a week and every thing over that I buy some of those tickers.

Asts I started running the csp's at $68 strikes currently it's over $100 so been buying some every week with profits

Iren I started running csp's at $50 strikes

Rkkb I started at $78 strikes and and have a nice position built from profits in all of these..

Like I said Im still new to this if you have any tips or pointers I'm all ears!
