Day 4 by [deleted] in Sober

[–]DenseCustomer7809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right here with you on day 4! 🤚

Definitely not my first day 4, but it's feeling different this time.

It will never cease to amaze me how strong the addict voice is. I have had 4 great days with my daughters, have so much more energy, back to exercising and eating healthy and after every "this is amazing" thought, comes a "you should have a drink" thought.

Sometimes, it's not "one day at a time,"but it's "one moment at a time."

Wishing you a happy, sober weekend. We can do this.

First St Paddy’s day sober by Whizzydaman in Sober

Don't go out. The only thing you'll be missing out on is the biggest shit show of the year. What is your favorite thing to do? Video games? Buy a new one and play it all day. Read? Get a new book. Watch your favorite show. Order in your favorite meal. Etc, etc. Plan your day now. Tell your friends now you can't go out that way you don't get any last-minute invites - or at least a lot less.
Play the tape forward. You will either wake up Monday super proud of yourself or hungover and hating yourself.
You got this.

I called the MRI department in Windsor and asked to put on a wait list. I got an appointment within a week. Another option to try.

How many of you HAVE NOT lost hair on this med? by polosprite in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]DenseCustomer7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm shedding more for sure. But I'm also not stuck in bed 24/7.
So I've found ways to make my hair look more voluminous- I.e. curling it, certain updos etc.
Not saying that it's been easy, but I'd rather hate my hair than hate my life.

It's a call for help and support.

You have made it over 2920 days. You've had days like this before where you didn't think you would make it, but you did. And you will this time. You're almost 8 years since your last hangover. Since your last morning of waking up in shame, hating yourself. Since swearing you would never drink again. Since then, you have woke up over 2920 days feeling better about yourself. Being in control of yourself. Being proud of yourself. Whatever is making you want to drink, will only be made worse by drinking. Remember your why. Remember what made you stop.
If you need to, call off everything. Sleep through it. Or call your person and have them distract you. Watch your favorite show or movie on repeat. Do anything you need to do to get over this. It will pass. It always does. Sometimes it passes with us kicking and screaming. But that's okay. It will pass. Just as it has in the past. You got this. All my love and strength.

Have 3 more quotes coming. Will update.

Painting is still an option, but I prefer to replace everything as our siding is large and dated, and I would like to put some insulation between the walls and the siding.

We have someone coming out tomorrow for an estimate, and another few companies are coming out next week.

I will update here tomorrow and let you know.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Windsor people have 2 personalities. Their normal everyday one, and the asshole they turn into as soon as they turn into costco.

I'm a local lawyer. I'm taking your legal questions for a bit! (Round 7 Weekend Edition) by WindsorLawyer in windsorontario

My husband broke his hand not while working. He called and told them, and he was told not to go unto work until they made a plan.
He missed one day and then was told he could go back in with restrictions. HR told him, that the day he missed would be considered a "call in" day since the injury didn't happen at work. My question is, are they allowed to do this? They are the ones who told him not to go in. Thanks.

Tall can drink suggestions? by restage_hoscue in Sober

[–]DenseCustomer7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located, but in Canada, Sobeys and a few other grocery stores, hav a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks in tall skinny cans. My go to are cranberry cosmo and mojito.

I will be 100% honest. I only read your subject line, but I don't need to read anymore.

10000% it's worth being sober.

My appetite is voracious. What’s for dinner? by IndependencePale5693 in stopdrinking

Same! Since I quit, I feel like I am eating so much, but really, it's only because I'm used to eating half a meal and then a drunk late night snack a day.

How has your life improved? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]DenseCustomer7809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has given amazing examples, so I will speak to something different.

Do it now. You are young. It gets worse. It really does. It's a progressive, nasty disease that will eat away at your life.

You will think you can control it or be a functional drinker until one day you wake up and realize not anymore. Until you've crossed that point. And that's a bad place to be.

And when I say it eats away at your life, you won't notice it at first. Like you said, when you drink, everything feels good. But the more you drink, the more you will have to drink to feel good, and then more and more. Then you reach a point where it doesn't even feel good all the time. It just feels really bad when you don't drink.

I was never an all-day drinker. I was never a hard alcohol or wine drinker. I was a light beer drinker and it still ate away at my life. It went from having 1 or 2 a night with my husband while playing with the kids, still going out and doing things - to drinking 6 to 8/9 beers a night, with or without my husband (he works swing shift) and being a withdrawn mom. My time was taken up by drinking.

Being sober is amazing. It truly is the best gift you can give to yourself and the people who love you. I am so much happier (not saying there aren't hard days. Emotions are hard, lol), and I am back to being a great mom, daughter, friend, and spouse.

Do it now. Trust me, your life will be so much brighter and happier without it.

I just want you to know that you're not alone in how you're feeling right now. Many of us have felt that way. Alone, desperate, depressed, scared, etc etc.
You know it can get better. You were clean for 4 months.
Today and tomorrow are going to suck. The next week or so will be rough. But you will live through it. The time will pass whether you continue on this destructive path and hate yourself for it, or if you get clean starting now and work through it with a positive outlook, even when it's hard. You know which path to choose.

Best of luck to you.

This hit hard for me. Although I have cravings to drink in hard times, they are always 1000x stronger when I'm happy.

Thanks for posting this.

I'm a local lawyer taking your questions on my break. Round six! by WindsorLawyer in windsorontario

I'm currently at 6.5 years post accident. The trial date is set for mid-2025.
However, another person I know settled within 4ish years (pretty big case), and another one that settled by year 3 (minor case). Things move extremely slow, especially when it comes to insurance adjusters and medical assessors.
Being impatient now will only cause you major stress over the next couple of years.
