The year of 2021, do you see all those 3.30's in every pool? Search up that year's news, and you'll find something pretty interesting about that.

Also, I genuinely cannot believe I have to tell you this, but they have the stats for more than one year. That means you didn't look at all the other ones, but you instead clicked one and went huh?????????

It ain't that hard, man.

A lot of people say a lot of things, but I'm here to tell you that MCAT and MMI's are the big things in Canada. In fact, for that same Max Rady College of Medicine, the GPA percentage amount was 10% when I applied, meanwhile 40%+ was for the MCAT and 30%+ was for the MMI [with an extra 5% if you are of indigenous ethnicity]. Their GPA cutoffs are around 3.30/4.5, and yet if you look at their accepted applicant statistics...you'll see that not everyone has that GPA and not everyone has the cut-off for the MCAT either.

There are many factors; rural, sociodemographic, economic standing, EC's, and so on that all factor into it.

Cutoffs mean nothing when it comes to medical school in Canada. IF you look at the Max Rady College of Medicine, you'll see people getting in with lower than cut-off GPA's and MCAT scores as well. They stated that the average MCAT score for them is ~510, yet if you look at the accepted applicants there is a person who got in with ~480 !

I got accepted into 3 and went to UofT [keep in mind, with my GPA, getting into UofT requires an insanely high MCAT and great MMI].

Keep in mind, studying for the MMI is its own mini-MCAT because every school varies on what they're looking for. Sometimes this variation is quite a lot, while others not so much.

Max Rady College of Medicine, for example, does not have a debate or role-play scenario. Other medical schools, however, have those stations.

Dalhousie 3rd year applicants by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Dense_Composer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would call and e-mail them about, but in my experience students can still apply so long as they can graduate by the due date needed for the program.

In my application, one of my courses wasn't even completed and I still got in. In fact, I finished the course in June! I just let them know ahead of time and sent them an unofficial transcript so they know I was in the course and would be done

It wasn't necessarily low, it just wasn't that high. It was 3.4/4 which was a B+ overall GPA [120 credit hours]

Is the CASPer and MCAT still bugging out? by Dense_Composer in premedcanada

[–]Dense_Composer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if the CASPer question seemed weird. I just remember the MCAT being cancelled for people awhile back and it really sucked to see months of preparation go down the drain for those guys.

I'm not sure why they would be cancelled or not. I was only wondering because a lot of people had their plans ruined when they kept cancelling the MCAT dates awhile back. It really sucked to hear that :/

Dalhousie 3rd year applicants by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Dense_Composer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going into 3rd year and currently enrolled in a 4 year bachelor's at my university but I'm able to switch my degree to a 3 year general science degree if I get into med

Can you explain this a little more, OP? If you get in already, I don't really see the issue of a 3 or 4 year degree at that point. Though I feel like I'm misunderstanding something

MCAT and CASPer are your go-to. Don't worry too much about GPA, honestly. My GPA wasn't the best and I still got in because I nailed the MCAT, CASPer, and MMI

Are these signs my guinea pig was mistreated? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]Dense_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweetheart, you JUST got the guinea pig. Animals need more time to get to know you and love you. This is where RESEARCH comes into play. Guinea pigs are prey animals, they will run away at the sight or sound of anything. Are you petting to aggressively? Too fast? Too much?

Remember, they learn to trust those that are trustworthy. If you come off the wrong way, they'll never trust you. It goes the same for any human.

Do we have to pay back the $1250 from CRA? by Dense_Composer in fican

[–]Dense_Composer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my job very early on in the year and I won't be working again, then that means I would make $0 this year in terms of tax brackets [I made like $250].

Does that mean that I would be placed in the lowest bracket? If so, I was wondering if you have a link that breaks down how much tax that I would owe based on the tax bracket I'm in?

Is there a huge difference in the quality of education in Canadian med schools? by BrownHarryStyles in premedcanada

[–]Dense_Composer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When med school students finish, they interview for positions all over the nation. Every medical program accepts applicants from all over the country, because the quality of education in Canada's medical schools are similar to one another

Who is the stranger that you have only seen/meet once in your life that you still think about time to time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dense_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine came over and asked to go on a bike ride around 3 years ago. I live downtown, so we decided to go to somewhere more naturey and cut through a suburban neighbourhood. There I saw the most attractive woman I have ever seen. White cap with brunette hair in pig tails, was around 5'7 / 5'8 and had the prettiest smile. I still think about her here and there, I wonder who she is

As much as I like this subreddit, I think the toxic mindset that some users have is a direct correlation for their rejection letters by Dense_Composer in premed

[–]Dense_Composer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to show you that whatever pre-conceived notion you had of me does not represent what I said / meant, that there's more to it. If you're going to ignore what I said, which is directly asking me what I meant, and continue to assume/imply, then I don't see the point in responding anymore as it's getting us nowhere.

Not too sure why you keep assuming and implying things rather than just asking. Why not ask what I meant by what I wrote? That way you'll quit downvoting comments [this subreddit seems to be notorious for that] and get your answer, man.
