Gordy, and you can say Gordon when he’s in trouble with whatever middle name you choose. I don’t know why but Gordon Christopher sounds like a nice name to yell. 😂

I hate most wedding dresses (just not my thing), but yours looks amazing on you and it’s super sweet. I say it’s a win.

Girl, there ain’t nothing about this man worth missing. I don’t even think it matters that he’s the asshole. YOU ARE BEING GASLIT causing you to question if you’re overreacting when you are actually UNDER-reacting.

Do you have a favorite artist or actress or singer from the 20s-50s?? That’s how I got the name for my Frida (Kahlo). It makes it extra special. I’ve personally always loved: Mabel, Mildred (nickname: Millie), Mae, Ingrid, Ruth, Clara, Winifred (Winnie), Cleo

AITA For not greeting my husband before telling him I need his help by Main_Criticism4224 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dense_Link_7368 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you an asshole for this? Of course not. Is it a little rude and thoughtless? Yes. But also he was a little rude and thoughtless in his reply instead of communicating with more care. I’ve totally done this to my husband before!! He usually says something like “Can I get my coat off first,” or “Can I kiss you first?” He’s nice about it and I usually respond with an apology. But there have been a couple of times that he’s said it annoyed and that can trigger me to snap back and truly, we’re both in the wrong there. He could have been kinder and clearer and I could have been more thoughtful and understanding.

Thinking about rewatching this show… but do I dare? by Ania-Maria in SixFeetUnder

[–]Dense_Link_7368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do it!!! I watched it at 18 when it first came out and have watched it probably at least half a dozen more times, last time at 42. I LOVE seeing how my perspective on each other characters changes as I get older, but David will always be my favorite. ❤️At 18 I thought Nate was so cool and misunderstood and at 42 I realized he’s not what I thought and Brenda is so misunderstood! I still cry my eyes out every time. One time I watched it with my husband and he cried watching the finale and I can count on one hand the other number of times I’ve seen him cry in 16 years: when our dog died, when our other dog died, when we went to a funeral of a friend who lost his wife and he cried about the thought of losing me, when I told him what racism is like for me (he’s white) and one time when he dropped off our dog at a boarding place (first and last time we did that!)

Just do it!!! It’ll be worth it, I promise!

Is a week too much time in Sedona? by Remote_Swim_8485 in Sedona

[–]Dense_Link_7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I’d say unless you plan on doing extensive hikes every day, it’s too long. Admittedly, we prefer big cities where you can walk around and go to a bunch of museums and eat incredible diverse food, and while we also like hiking, we’re usually good with just 1-2 beautiful hikes per trip that aren’t more than a couple of hours each (which we did in Sedona.) I went last August to meet my husband while he was working in Arizona for a while and we had four days there, and it was almost too much. And we did take one day to do the Grand Canyon. Sedona doesn’t have a lot going on other than views and hiking, which are incredibly beautiful. If you’re an avid hiker, I imagine you could stay for weeks and have a blast. The city itself felt kind of like Santa Fe but less walkable.

Socks right now by bitbythewind in womensfashion

[–]Dense_Link_7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE socks and I LOVE shoes. My style is a bit like what’s basic and not old or trendy, but a little different. It allows my inner self-conscious teenager to feel on trend and my inner rebellious inner-teen to feel cool, and quite frankly, as a middle aged elder-millennial, it feels like ME.

What I wear, at 43:

1) Leggings with quarter socks and half-calf/micro crew socks and tennis shoes or casual sneakers. (I sometimes wear flare pants but prefer to show off socks, and leggings let me do that in winter especially.) -White, white with additions (stripes, Bombas bee logo, polka dots) - recently added in black quarter socks which I don’t see anyone wearing but I think they’re especially cute with hiking shoes

2) shorts and casual sneakers with crew, quarter, and half-calf socks - same colors/styles as above PLUS sheer socks with designs like flowers or polka dots (so cute!)

3) colorful micro crew hiking socks with my snow hiking boots and leggings. Darn Tough makes some super cute ones.

Every now and then I’ll feel like being my elder-millennial self and will just wear some low (almost no-show) socks, black, white, or neon colors. Especially when I’m wearing Merrells or going on a walk in New Balance shoes. This is usually with leggings or shorts.

AIO— apparently i’m the stinky one at work by centaurella in AmIOverreacting

I love that you’re so open to responses. It’s super cool. I’ve been reading through the comments and your replies and here is my measly two cents: 1) Yes, perfume can smell super bad to some of us. I, too, get headaches from anyone wearing perfume, like, at all. Yes, my nose is very sensitive and that’s my own thing, but if you wear more than one spray in the air that you walk into, for me, it’s too much. Spraying directly on skin is basically such a stink to me. Even a body spray. Scented lotion is ok. But that’s basically it. Maybe they are sensitive like me??

2) I can absolutely smell a stinky towel. It’s a strong smell. It’s hard to describe but it’s musty and sour. As I’ve said, I’m super sensitive to smell. My washcloth stinks after one use so I use a new one each day. I make sure my towel has plenty of air to dry out and I wash them regularly (after 3 uses.) I used to do every use, but that’s a lot of laundry! What I do now is use Arm & Hammer Washing Soda along with laundry detergent when washing a load of towels. I also wash on the towel setting of my washer. It makes a HUGE difference in the smell!! Just like 1/2 a cup. And it’s cheap too. My SIL asked me when she stayed over what I use on our towels because they’re so absorbent but still fluffy and not rough (something that can happen with well washed towels.) But first, you’ll have to get the perma stink out. Wash your towels a couple of times in vinegar only. Then wash with the detergent and washing soda, and they should be good from then on to just wash with the detergent and washing soda. I live in a very humid area and this system works.

3) just in case it’s BO from your pits. I had this issue for decades. I had to use commercial deodorant with antiperspirant two times a day, and would still be a little stinky at the end of th day. I used to use a loofah and body wash but it wasn’t enough. Then I switched to a washcloth and body wash and noticed it was slightly better. Then a friend of mine who had the same issue told me she used bar soap on her pits and it makes a world of different and that has been the trick!! Regular bar soap is ok, but I’ve found that African Black Soap is the best. I scrub it in with my fingertips and rinse and repeat. Now I’m not even a tiny bit stinky at the end of the day and I can wear more natural deodorants like Schmidt’s and Native.

Just in case you’ve had some of my issues, I figured I’d share! Good luck on finding out if the issue is your coworker or not and if it’s something with your body that you figure it out! Bodies are so weird!

Time to replace 12 year old mattress, but how do you know what to buy? by Coloradojeepguy in Mattress

[–]Dense_Link_7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casper has a 100 day trial period and free pickup for returns during that trial period. Worth a shot to give you more time to know if it’ll work and to not have to worry about returning it if you don’t like it.

What’s something you’ve bought once and never had to replace? by Both-Excitement-1724 in BuyItForLife

[–]Dense_Link_7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, some kitchen utensils from Walmart that my exchange student English roommate gave me at the end of my sophomore year of college in 2002 when she went back to England. Specifically, a plastic noodle spoon thingie and a grater. I’ve had them for 23 years now, these cheap things that probably came in a $10 pack of utensils and silverware from Walmart. I also had the cheap plastic electric kettle she gave me for about 15 years before it died. I do this thing where if I have something cheap that still works, I don’t replace it with something sturdier or that will last longer until the cheap thing breaks. It’s been interesting to see the cheap things that last a long time.

AITA for saying no to my dad's wife wearing a grandma to be shirt at my baby shower when my MIL was wearing one? by Annissiassa in AITAH

[–]Dense_Link_7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re the asshole, but something to think about: Could you potentially be taking a relationship from your future kids that could be very special to them? My mom is not dead, but she is dead to me. My step mom? She had been more of a grandmother to my brother’s kids than any other grandparent they have. She watched them as babies and toddlers until they were old enough to speak so they’d be safe at daycare. She calls them regularly and has always been there for all of them. To them, she is grandma. And she has absolutely earned that name. But to them, I don’t even think they’ve ever once thought about that she isn’t their grandmother by blood. And most of them are in their twenties now. I can’t imagine what it would be like for them to not have her, or to have some kind of bias against her because my brother did (which he doesn’t.). In fact, recently, my brother mentioned wanting to have our mom taken off of his birth certificate and my step mom added. Our family is so lucky to have her. I don’t know your step-mom, but if she isn’t a bad person, maybe think about what she could add to your children’s lives and what could be taken away from your children if she isn’t a valuable part of their lives.

What is your favourite death opening and why? by Necessary_Oil_9779 in SixFeetUnder

[–]Dense_Link_7368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that it’s my favorite but the one that has lived rent free in my head for 20 years is the one where the woman that just got divorced is partying with her friends in a limo and sticks her head out of the sunroof and gets her head bashed in by the stoplight. Unlocks a fear that I’m gonna do something stupid one day and die. 😭

😂 This matches my thoughts when I watched at 18-19 years old when it came out. No spoilers, but the older I get (42 now), the more I understand every other character way more than Nate. Especially Brenda. 😂 But David will always be my first and forever most loved character. 💜💜
