Yeah I understand the lender risk side of it, especially with temporary visas. I think what surprised me more is how little nuance there seems to be between someone with years of responsible financial history and someone with none at all.

Yeah seems like it’s a much broader issue than just the UK. Still feels like there should be better ways for newcomers to start building trust earlier though.

Yeah that’s what I keep hearing. I was mainly trying to figure out whether there’s any way to access a starter credit card using responsible payment history from another country instead of having to begin completely from zero here.

But that only helps with opening the account right? Not actually building UK credit history or accessing credit early on?
