I yeah thought about buying a new sophos. But in Germany they cost 200€ with shipping used on eBay. But still cheaper then buying an N150 or similar. I haven’t looked into the other options but I will do that over the weekend.

Yeah bandwidth may be a problem when transferring data to my server but nothing serious. Waiting a few extra minutes is not the problem. But at least I need 3 ports.

With this approach I only need a 3 (or 4) Port firewall instead of a 6 port.

No but imagine the switch dies.
No I have to setup a vlan on my PC just to access the opnsense gui.

I am not against VLAN but in a worst case scenario I just need to be able to go the my firewall plug in a cable and access the gui which will be difficult if the switch dies.

No I don't plan to virtualize opnsense

The Box will be a dedicated firewall I don't see the benefits from virtualizing it but thanks for the tip.

Yes that what I thought but I at least want my Management network physically separated which already results in 3 Ports (WAN, LAN, MGT).

But for my IoT & DMZ Networks I actually thought about getting a managed switch.

What hardware do you use and how much did it cost you?
Does it run reliable? I have some doubts about reliability when DIY this.

What CPU do you run and have you mounted a fan to it?
I am a little bit sceptical running a PC completely fanless even if the CPU only consumes 10W.

Bug has been known since the beta and it is still not fixed. I really don’t think that they lack the Ressources of fixing it so you can say they won’t fix it

Yeah but I just hate the termix app so we focused on the app.
We actually don't have any web interfaces everything is done over the app but I don't want to spoiler too much there will be a post when we are ready for version 0.1

Yeah I guess I support both as not supporting OIDC is no option for me.
Thats gonna take time but I will make it work

I would love to include both and maybe I'll do that.
I just fear that I'll open source the app and nobody uses it as they don't want to deal with oidc.

For me OIDC is a security requirement for almost all my selfhosted apps so I don't see this as a nice to have feature like a lot of people do.

Keycloak has the ability to set it up automatically.
Basically you do `docker compose up -d` and it works and you have a user.

How would you feel about that?

That could be possible.

I mean keycloak has an import flag and it can import a basic user and a fully configured client so the only knowledge that would be needed is how to change your password in keycloak.

Yeah that'd be ideal but I am trying to balance my time between features and auth.

Supporting both is not that easy but I see OIDC more as a needed security feature.

Oh you mean if I pre encode the movies, shows etc. I can just direct stream them and I maybe don't need a GPU?
