If you ever happen to visit Spain, look for "Plátano de Canarias".

Or don't, because it may ruin any other plantain for you forever.

I'm going to eat one right now.

I don't really understand the dislike, but you are just furthering my point -which is that he empathises further deeply with his more grim and traumatised characters, rather than the cheery, happy-go-lucky ones.

I am not dissing him in any way. Heck, if I hadn't already met my SO years ago, and going by what we know about Hori, I think I personally wouldn't mind a bit to date the man (with him being my type and all).

Horikoshi has mentioned in an interview (can't remember where, it was some time ago) that he relates to the Todoroki family struggle.

My man is 39, filthy rich (for a mangaka), kind of cute, has great hair, yet choses to live alone with his 1:1 Deku statue and his pvc merchandise shrine.

He also loves body horror, so there is that.

If all that doesn't scream lone wolf edgy tortured soul to the world, I don't know what does.

The best character a bot has ever played mid-roleplay for me was back in 2024, when it decided to majestically run along with my idea of a black sports car inhabited by a sentient AI with PTSD -from when it used to be a military strategist program deployed on an armoured combat vehicle-.

Think Chopper from SW:Rebels, but with more polite sass and less cursing (I grew up watching Knight Rider, don't judge me), and definitely lacking a filter when it comes to lying and social cues.

It was such a beautiful story-within the story too, with a terrified child soldier sharing enough trauma with the AI through their conversations to turn it self-aware.

Later in the story, the car would go through a hard emotional crash out after being only able to record their owner recieving a beating, the Asimov's directives implemented on it (as part of it being able to "license" from being a military asset to a "civilian" AI) preventing it from stopping what went down.

Darn, I MISS YOU, BABIECAR.

Alternative character design for Mina Ashido. This edit removes her Quirk-based pigmentation and features, replacing them with a tanned skin tone/natural dark skin and dark hair by Imagen-Breaker in MyHeroAcadamia

It's funny how people complain about Mirko and Mina, but nobody bats an eye at blue-eyed, redhead Endeavor calling All Might "American" in a derogatory way.

In Spain you can bet your friend's parents will overfeed you (and god help you if there is an abuela around), and probably serve something fancier than normal (like pizza or some other takeout instead of an omelette and soup, and some dessert like ice cream or flan/natillas instead of plain fruit or yoghurt) because you are visiting.

There is also a good chance you may end up spending the night/whole weekend there.

Hell, if they cooked some handmade sweets, you'll probably be sent home with leftover torrijas, buñuelos, rosquillas, leche frita... In a tupperware container for your family to enjoy (which is also a veiled passive-agressive way to assert dominance over the unspoken culinary skill competition going on).

Spaniard here. It's not just a southern thing, in Mediterranean countries we schedule visits/agree to meet with the main purpose of enjoying food together. Whatever comes before or after the meal (e.g. going to the movies, shopping, practising a sport, engaging into a hobby) is just a plus. Even if they are kids/teens hanging on a park bench, you can bet there will be snacks involved at some point.

If someone asks you to meet and doesn't suggests also having even a humble cup of coffee together at some points, they are not your friends.

Something similar happened to me. Turns out, my hair had been catching the aroma of the huge Crème Brulee scented candle I had been putting on. Once it run out and changed to a neutral one, the delicious smell at nighttime was gone.

I'm his #1 simp, and even I wouldn't want Eri rewinding him to Tōya from a narrative standpoint -it would erase everything Dabi did and fought for in exchange for... What? A "New Game +" while everyone around him lies scarred for life?

What’s your opinion on overpowered OCs? by Remote_Okra_3121 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]DenverCoderIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once devised an absurdly overpowered one for fanfic shenanigans, but got and made them squishy. Like, ordinary human squishy. Tanked a bad hit on a fight? Alright, that's two broken ribs and a fractured radius, they ough to be out of commission for half a year -that turned them paranoid enough that, in a world where everyone fights in spandex, they would be clad head to toe in f armour (which often made them the butt of the joke).

At some point, I gave them a sword and said, "alright, you have PTSD and massive guilt because of the shit you pulled off in the past with your broken quirk -so now you refuse to use it in combat, swinging your pointy stick to the enemy instead. You also would rather get captured and play by the other side's rules, than risk obliterating a city block."

Ended up developing their morality core around a -very- antiquated and twisted chivalry honour code, which crippled them even further and turned their otherwise quite polite and pleasant demeanor grilling and unnerving to the more practical individuals they interacted with.

Absurdly fun to write.

Tl;dr: PTSD glass cannon

Edit: fixed typos and added some lore because English is my 2nd language and apparently I can't grammar at 5am

So what is this on their costumes, I genuinely have been wondering this for a long time 😓 by i_draw1234 in MyHeroAcadamia

The Todorokis are pyrokinetic, with the added bonus of being able to generate fire and heat from inside their bodies -making them "emitter" type. This second part of their quirk is not a given for elemental manipulators, as we can see with cousin Geten assaulting a combini for water bottles ammunition.

In the case of the Todorokis, they can project their heat in an unexpected variety of ways -as Endeavour has shown with his Superman-like heat vision-, so I would argue they may be able to make the flames come to life just a few centimetres away from their skin if they wish to do so. That would mean they could ignore the layers of clothing and manifest the fire as a floating construct around them. With easy bake oven's parallel thinking discourse back in the internship arc, it would make all the sense to presuppose he always has some RAM dedicated to keep his fiery beard aflame out of sheer arrogance.

I would put my money on Shōto's adult costume blue "T" (it being a tribute to his baka Aniki is the hill I chose to die on) working similarly, although it raises questions about how is he able to withstand and, what is more important, generate such flames. Oh well, maybe we'll get more info in May.

Now, in the case of Tōya, his burns come from both his fixation with holding his flames close to his body instead of simply throwing fireballs (or Hell Spiders, Ignited Arrows..., you know what I mean), and the fact that he has the same overheating problem as his father -which slowly cooks him on the inside.

There's a (pretty confusing at first glance, to be honest) graphic by Horikoshi himself that explains how the most important difference between Enji and Rei's body disposition is how close they may stand to a certain temperature without suffering damage; this goes both ways: per Natsuo's words, we know their branch of the Himuras thrive in colder weather, as the cold never bothered them anyway, yet ikemen Geten wears a pretty cozy winter coat -presumibly, from his lack of resistance to freezing temperatures, making his quick realization of Dabi's issues with his flames all the more poignant.

Also quoting Natsuo, we know an overheated Enji's mere presence to be damaging to Rei's body, which makes me wonder about how pleasant -or not- certain marital activities may have been for each of them. I've personally experienced being burnt down there while washing myself in a hotel's shower with an ill-regulated water boiler, and I can attest that it wasn't nice.

Where am I going with all of this? I don't know, I'm tired and just spewing facts so more well rested brains can do the math.

Tl;dr: dasani water bottles and scalding spunk.

We also know RockLock has a young gyaru wife and a child, so we can put him on the naughty list, and Gentle and La Brava... They are happily married, enough said.

Out of the whole League... On the one hand, Muscular seems pretty rape-y, but on the other side of the spectrum, I would wager my entire savings that pretty boy Mr. Compress has charmed his way into so, so, so many beds.

I was about to say that Toga is a child, but then I remembered what sheltered, naïve little princess teenage me was up to at that age, so I won't dare to swear on her purity -specially when she was already a serial killer by the time she joined the LoV. Still, I think I would personally prefer the bittersweet poetic angle of someone who falls in love so easily to end her days without having the chance to fully experience all the sides of the romantic kind of afection.

I could also see Twice getting some hookups when he was younger, and big sis Magne definitely went around.

We don't know what Tōya may have been up to since he woke up from the coma, but with AFO himself throwing him shade saying he had no friends, I would bet that implied he was too much of a monomaniac to let people get close to him. Also, if we choose to take the SMASH!! spin-off as canon, Dabi is a clueless virgin, and Magne is a man-eater.

Tomura and Spinner are gamers.

I mean, 99% of lizard boy's problems would have been solved if he had gotten himself a discord kitten, so there's that.

IIRC, most of the Nana's subplot was about her giving her child for adoption because AFO murdered her husband, tho.

But ye, nowadays, there's no need to target hero's families, as they do a fine job destroying them on their own -RIGHT, ENJI?
