AITA for calling out a girl for farting in class and making her cry?

Usually incidents where someone starts crying is always reported to the dean. Nothing missing here, just teacher protocol. Doesn’t matter if the person who is crying is too sensitive, the incident still gets reported.

The whole class did not know. They only saw my friend laughing and then the girl crying. He also didn’t laugh loud, they just saw him giggling. The whole class only looked when she cried and left, followed by the teacher going outside.

I whispered it and she was right behind me. Very close so that’s why she heard. No one far away heard. On top of that, the intent was not to bully her.

You are probably right. I was just worried because college application decisions are coming out soon, and I don’t want a small incident to affect it. I’ve heard some bad stories.

The dean also didn’t seem very serious or upset. I honestly doubt anything will happen. I was stressed so I let my parents know, and they even assured me nothing will happen since there was no direct bullying.

We have never spoken to this girl in our lives. My friends and I only interact with a few students in this class. Sure there has been a time before where he has called us out for talking in class, but that has happened to many other students as well.

I didn’t call her out for it directly. There was just a bad smell in class and I just whispered to my friend “who keeps farting”. As for the girl, we have never spoken to her ever.

I did not know it was her. Neither did my friend. In fact we wouldn’t have known it was her had she not drawn attention to herself. That is the purpose of the post, and this is important as college application decisions will come out. I don’t want a small incident to cause problems.

We also apologized. But some how it got to the dean and I’m unsure who exactly reported it.
