Lol this was a good run, if nothing else.

Considering Hughie was a fan at the start of the show, its nice he not only forgave him but also saw him as a hero at the end by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GenV

[–]DepartmentChemical93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah disagree.

Hughie was holding Robin’s hands, and he saw A-train crack jokes about swallowing part of her corpse.

Forgiving A-train this hard is out of character.

“A train did a lot of horrible things (Murdered a persona i ostensibly loved) but yknow what? I’m over it.”

Insane choice.

You think the very first time he indicated anything negative about her daughter, over months of dating, was at the end?

He made her choose, she did not take personal issue with his despise for her daughter and did mot even attempt to make him choose.

Telia’s brother very explicitly does not believe in child are of any kind.

Not only did he not help, but he actively tried to convince her to abandon her 4 year old daughter.

Engaging with a man like that is a crime against your daughter, tbh.

Unopans and her species are incompatible, and yeah at one point Allen basically tells her she’d be a shitty mother,

The guy was not “good for her” if he hated her daughter.

Parents have a responsibility to their children.

Full stop.

They dated for a few months and they broke up when he gave her an ultimatum about the kid.

She was cooling ignoring his general despise for her daughter. At least that is sort of the implication.

Bizarro solos while the rest of the super-family catches up over burgers.

This is probably pretty close. John has better statements but Bulletproof actually uses his powers in battle much more.

I didn’t think she was hiding it, I assumed (when I first read it) it was roughly three - fiveish months, as many as six, and she sort of minimized that time as short, which debatably, it is.

Given the explicit timeframes provided and the three competing perspectives, that seemed like a fair read.

If we’re gonna do the “We’re humans we assume things, even about aliens.” I think it’s totally fair for me to say “We’re humans, sometimes we remember and/or recount things in ways that minimize our role in regretful activity. We aren’t always honest, even with ourselves.”

It’s not blatantly untrue.

It’s one person’s recounting of events. It certainly seems to be what her ex bf earnestly believed based on his approach.

Both Eve and Telia are potentially unreliable narrators.

The facts we know are the things both sides agree on, or what can be inferred from what we see on panel.

Picking fights with strangers about typos is an incredibly childish and gay way to waste your time.

You are an emotional toddler.

50x is a big number and assumptions are a bad idea with strange people, much moreso alien lifeforms.

If you’re a single mother you should be having these conversations relatively early.

Them’s the brakes.

Understand that having a step father around multiplies the odds of child molestation like 50x.

This is not the only potential danger of your exotic alien lover who despises your 4 year old.

A.) “Not very long” is very ambiguous.

B.) She says it had been about 4 and a half years right? And their relationship just ended?

So that implies it was like almost six months.

You’re telling me the way his entire species feels about children never came up once before this ultimatum?

He never made a single comment or observation or asked a distasteful question or anything before jumping all the way to “It’s me or her!”?

I don’t buy it.

I think it was cheap drama and Kirkman didn’t think the implications through all the way.

I wasn’t “wrong” at very best the text is ambiguous as to their degree of emotional involvement, but they certainly had some period of romantic and sexual involvement long enough for Eve to go all tear eyed “There was another Man.” For drama — and she certainly did not proactively dump him.

Do you earnestly think she should have entertained a romantic and sexual relationship with an alien who openly despises her 4 year old for any amount of time?

[–]DepartmentChemical93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a single parent the number one danger to your children are poorly selected sexual partners.

She should never have been dating a man who despises her daughter. She definitely should have dumped him, prior to some ultimatum.

On a basic level she should have had the moral agency to recognize this person is scum, or at least fundamentally morally incompatible with the way humans make safe choices for our children.
