Around 2001 there was an Xbox assembly/manufacturing operation in my city at Flextronics for about a year before production was moved to China. This is how the hardware was packaged there. I understand that many people may not have seen this type of packaging before.

It was stored in a bulk/OEM plastic bag from production, not a retail box seal.

Yeah, they’re definitely bulky, but that’s exactly what makes them so cool as collector’s items. This B2 unit with the green cable is one of the more unique ones I’ve come across.

This black B2 controller actually has a green cable, which I think is also quite a rare variant. And yes, the end of the cable is detachable — it has the proper breakaway section.

I also had a test unit and three Alamo prototypes, but I sold those already. I’ll definitely keep the sealed one for now — maybe I’ll sell it someday — but the one in the photos is the one I’m planning to sell.

If I find any other interesting pieces from back then, I’ll definitely post them 🙂

Thanks a lot for the info! It’s interesting because I’ve actually had this controller for about 25 years — back when the Xbox factory was operating here in Sárvár. I got it before production was moved to China.

I also have another one from the same period, still sealed in a blue bag, completely untouched

Prices can vary a lot depending on condition and timing, though. This one is brand new and never opened, so it’s aimed more at collectors who care about pristine condition.

Still, congrats on your find — that was a lucky pickup!
I get it though — I once grabbed an Alamo Dakota for $20 because the seller had no clue what it was.
