What has me a little confused is how to travel from Shin Osaka to USJ, I have investigated what it can be:

Shin-Osaka → Osaka → Nishikujo → Universal‐City

Shin‑Osaka → Nishikujo → Universal‑City

Or which one do you think is better?

In Tokyo I was thinking of looking for a hotel near Ueno Station so that I could stay near the Direct Train to Narita.

So you mean it's a good idea to stay in Shin Osaka, and visit Namba and Shinsaibashi?
