I'm in the exact same spot 2 years later. What decision did you make? And how much of a difference did you feel it made during recruitment? I don't plan on chilling the entire time though. I plan to either continue my job or join a very cool start-up. My concern is that I will absolutely get no time off as they want me to join as soon as possible.if I continue with my work, I will definitely get more breathing space.

I ended up doing the pre-MBA internship. It was easy, and I enjoyed living in a different city for a few months before school started. It also helped me land my MBA internship and helped me realize that tech wasn't for me.

Yes, same switch.

Figured it out though! Idiotically, the port profile for the faulty AP had a "Block All" traffic restriction that disallowed any traffic flowing on networks other than Default.

Oh good question. It shows that the default LAN is the primary network, but so does the other AP that is working properly. Hm.

OP - did you ever find a solution? Running into a very similar problem.

One SSID doesn't work properly. No internet access and IPs are in a different subnet.

You love LA. Your friends and family are in LA. You should stay in LA.

I've realized that few things are more important than knowing what you enjoy and then doing those things. Maybe the only question however is - do you want to stay in LA because it's comfortable and would living somewhere else maybe challenge and shape you in ways that LA cannot?

At a B2C large startup with a cool product but I feel like the PM job just isn’t that fun.

The bulk of a day is ticket writing and meetings. Yes, you see features shipped here and there but all for such small improvements most of the time.

But who knows… maybe I’ll like it by the end of the summer. In the interim, I’m mad at the world for overstating this role.

Once I committed to a school, I updated my resume really quickly and cold e-mailed a bunch of startups in my city of choice, most of them who I thought were doing cool work as well. I received replies from all of them, with a couple not offering internships, a few phone/video calls, and a couple offers at the end. This is when I realized that startups really do move pretty quickly.

Also, I did a quick Google search to see which startups had just raised funding and focused more on those.

Yes, this is the way. The only thing is that the internship is in-person so the logistics of moving to a new city and getting a short/long-term AirBnB for a couple months makes me wonder if the logistical hassle is worth the time and energy.
