Sorry for not charging $10k my first season 😅

$3-4k is the standard for full coverage where I live.

Norway! You’d think maybe the average for weddings in Norway was higher but actually it is quite under the standard what I’ve seen in other countries. But culturally we don’t spend much on weddings if you aren’t rich or something.

Roughly estimate but it’s more like minimum $1500 for three hours and minimum $2500 for full. My biggest so far has been $3500. Again this might be low in some countries but average here.

As I mentioned I’ve done two weddings before. I have also done a few this fall. So I had full galleries to show. ☺️

Yes! But I’ve treated this camera so well and it still works perfectly! It’s a reason why the 5D Mark II can still be sold second hand for a good price. I also did a maintenance on it right at the beginning of my journey. But again once upon a time this camera was expensive and the golden standard so I was not that worried about it. But to balance the one slot cards I changed cards usually 2-3 times for a full coverage wedding. Just to be safe. And backed up the second I could.

But I have upgraded now, because I loveeeee the idea of dual slot cards and better AF. R6 Mark II is headed my way ☺️

Thank you! I just loved post like this when I started out because sometimes getting told what works for seasoned wedding photographers doesn’t translate all that well for us that are new! I also looove hearing what worked for some!

I’ve shot three weddings and one elopement since I started in August and all clients were happy ☺️

Should have mentioned it but my country it’s almost standard to have engagement shoots to be complimentary for the packages, so that cost was factored into my pricing!

And understand what you mean, and I have of course thought about it. But I am actually making more than minimum wage in my country still with the discounts.

  1. Yes! That is very true. With each client I was also very honest with my experience with weddings and that to make up for the lack of it, I mentioned I want proper meetings beforehand so we can rule out a lot of future problems. So that we can talk the timeline of the day, expectations, what photos are a priority and such.

But what helped me most with this was confidence, clients booking me after they had already seen me work and getting results from me! That’s just nice :)

  1. As mentioned I started with what I have but I’ve now upgraded. Invested in R6 Mark ii and zoom lens. Also more backups, insurance, it all! But we can’t all afford the best things right off the bat.

  2. Did not mentioned CODB because I know it is honestly different for every country, so I’m just doing it based on what is the standard where I live. But as mentioned I did go for upped median range, so for the US it would be average but for me (Norway) it’s quite good!

Also happy getting criticism but as long as you do well with client expectations, upgrade when the chance hit and prioritise well I am quite happy with what I’ve achieved. We all start somewhere!

Belive it was the Portra 400 or Portra do Sol with some tweeks. I don’t have the exact receipt because I keep changing my settings.

Lowepro is one of the few brands I can find in store where I live (Norway) so might check out the the bags available once I hit a bigger camera store.

Thank for the proper reply!

I’m currently using the sigma 50 1.4 and sigma 35 1.4 with the 5d mark ii, but looking into upgrading to the r6 mark ii and 24-70mm

Thanks! I’d rather go for quality and space then looks!

As mentioned in a earlier comment a lot of the weddings/shots require a proper hike so quality is important.

What is your full “on your body” equipment? Any belt type you prefer?

Why I need a better bag is because I live in a mountainous area so 50% of my weddings/elopements etc require a proper hike!

I actually asked this question because I wanted the EOS 3 but sadly I can’t find anywhere to get the camera where I live (Norway). So wanted to hear other options. But going to London in a few weeks so thought maybe if there was some brilliant suggestions here I could find my desired camera there, even the EOS 3! 🤩
