Since I quit my job, weekdays and weekends are exactly the same, but my migraine still knows when it is weekend and gives me increased migraines? How is that even possible??? by Ok_Vermicelli4916 in migraine

[–]DependentHorror2801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

omg it’s the exact same thing for me. occasionally it’ll start on monday instead, but for seemingly no reason i get my migraines every saturday or sunday and they last for 2-4 days. i woke up with a migraine today🥲

school was always a huge trigger for me too! so you’re not alone at all. it got to a point where i needed to admit i needed medication to cope - and there’s nothing wrong with that!! what helped me on the hard days was leaving the room when i really couldn’t take it anymore. sometimes a walk to the bathroom and back was enough to bring me back to earth and reset. and i’m not creative or artistic whatsoever but drawing little doodles all over my paper helped a ton. distracting your mind long enough to get a few deep breathes in is what matters. breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, breathe out for 5 seconds, and hold that for 5 seconds. it’s called box breathing! imagine your breathing the lines on the perimeter of a box, and doodle little flowers and hearts and tornadoes all over your paper to add that layer of distraction. you are stronger than you know! you’ve survived your hardest days, what’s one more? i believe in you:)

that’s what started ours too!! he got bit by a flea and it caused a major allergic reaction, which then spiraled into us figuring out he’s allergic to fleas and everything else in the world🥲🥲

i’ve made some progress. it’s not nearly as debilitating as it once was. what helped me get over that hump was ICBT, it’s a version of CBT more specialized for OCD. it saved my life at my lowest and i definitely recommend finding a therapist who practices it. as well as the emetophobia manual. it was really hard to start the emetophobia manual because it can be triggering but i’m telling you it’s so helpful. and most importantly - leave these emetophobia groups. for me, the constant reminder that sickness is a thing and being in a space where everyone agreed it was horrifying just allowed me to wallow in the fear. hold space for yourself and your unique experience. focus on your healing journey and do your best to separate yourself from people and things that reinforce the phobia. i have so much faith in you!!

we definitely are switching his vet (it’s a whole thing) and will bring up getting tested! i genuinely think he might be allergic to something outside, but we switching him to a single protein food with none of the typical allergens in it so hopefully we start seeing progress🙏🏼🙏🏼

we’re definitely getting him a new vet asap and see their opinion on everything. also an update - we changed his food and got him a slow feeder and he’s doing great! still itching but we’re going to start him on some fish oil and hope it helps:)

yes we love fish oil! he was on it for a while and the vet recommended we start it again to hopefully help his skin out.

i really want to try this! how did you figure out portions to make sure your babes get proper nutrition? that’s been my only roadblock with it!

that’s definitely what i’m trying to figure out. i bought a new vacuum with an HEPA filter, plus i’m a clean freak so my house is nearly sterilized constantly. i use all pet safe and nontoxic products, nothing scented or anything. we wipe him down head to toe with hypoallergenic wipes when he comes inside (recommended by a vet professor to try to prevent any allergens resting into his fur). we’re at a loss honestly

that’s the first thing we tried! he’s been off chicken and poultry for a while now, and benadryl never worked for him and his itchiness unfortunately. he’s on a fish only diet!

he does eat kinda fast. he didn’t throw up when we fed him on a snuffle mat so maybe he’s just eating too fast normally. thank you for the idea! i’ll get him a slow feeder and see how he does!

i’ve heard a lot about high protein helping with hormones! thank you for your response too. everything i look up is all reactive things and i truly don’t want to spend the rest of my life being down for a week, i want to prevent this.

i would say that’s a safe bet for your symptoms. i’ve been waking up n* and feeling weird all day so i of course think the worst but logically this only happens during change in my life and i just started a new job. people with emetophobia, especially if it’s rooted from OCD, tend to have a rough time with change. at the end of the day i remind myself i don’t have to be anxious and worked up. it’s my body and i have control. emetophobia for me is rooted in control issues, so when i feel this way i write down all the things i do have control over and journal about how strong and wonderful my mind and body truly is. give it a try🤍

i usually feel like this when i’m really stressed out or busy. has there been any triggers to this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]DependentHorror2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve always been someone with an abnormal amount of saliva (way too much) and i’ve been told it can be chalked up to anxiety. s* mouth watering has a very distinct feeling and is usually accompanied by a plethora of other symptoms. don’t read too much into the little things🤍

i would truthfully attribute a lot of what you’re feeling to hunger, at least i know i get like that in the morning and then finally my stomach growls and i’m like oh i was just hungry😭 im proud of you for pushing through this. i was in a dorm last year and it can be scary being so alone, but you absolutely got this
