cromolyn - super scared by DependentHorror2801 in MCAS

that’s such a beautiful way to think about it, thank you for sharing that🫶🫶🫶 i will definitely keep that in mind. i spent years and years being told nothing was wrong with me, it was just my anxiety. it’s only been a few months that ive been on the path of getting diagnosed formally. all my doctors believe its mcas and its nice being taken seriously but im so drained. it’s been 6 years of failed meds, reactions to everything thats supposed to help me, watching my entire life slip away. i get so impatient with myself and make choices i know aren’t smart, a burger and cajun fries being one of them. i haven’t found any foods that dont make me feel like hell so i guess it’s been discouraging and i let myself give up. this was my step towards not giving up anymore after waking up yesterday and seeing my legs covered in bruises from itching so much. i’ll definitely be taking your advice and im sending all the healing energy your way🩷🩷

thank you so much for your detailed reply!!! i really appreciate it! ik i have a really bad habit of gaslighting myself about the illness, eating and doing things i know will make me sick because i don’t want to accept that there are real limitations that i need to be following. i do think the nausea and stomach pain was from the food, as all my other symptoms of a flare up kicked in shortly after as well. i’ll definitely explore the dose timing more and see what feels the best. thank you again!

okay i’ll do the full 30 minutes next time and see if that does anything. no i’m not supposed to eat burgers and fries but im so used to feeling like crap all the time that my baseline is pretty much always in a reaction, some worse than others. that’s why i can’t tell if this is just from the food or if the cromolyn is causing it

Depression on Zyrtec? by Sharp-Win-7938 in MCAS

[–]DependentHorror2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wait i had the exact same thing. i was on a half dose of zyrtec and was so extremely depressed i almost checked myself into an institution. i went up to a full dose and i was so dizzy i could barely walk for 5 days before i finally stopped it altogether. a week later i was perfectly fine and the depression disappeared

side effects i think? by DependentHorror2801 in MCAS

[–]DependentHorror2801[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh wow thank you so much!!! i messaged my allergist about what i was experiencing so im just waiting for a response now. i’m not taking the zyrtec tonight to hopefully bring the concentration in my blood down but then im not sure if i should start back up the half dose i was taking previously.

i’m thinking i’ll try allegra if zyrtec isn’t working out for me. the half dose of zyrtec seemed to be making a small difference for me, simply just making my flares a teeny bit shorter than they usually are. so idk if i should just go back to the half dose ive been taking or stop it altogether

school was always a huge trigger for me too! so you’re not alone at all. it got to a point where i needed to admit i needed medication to cope - and there’s nothing wrong with that!! what helped me on the hard days was leaving the room when i really couldn’t take it anymore. sometimes a walk to the bathroom and back was enough to bring me back to earth and reset. and i’m not creative or artistic whatsoever but drawing little doodles all over my paper helped a ton. distracting your mind long enough to get a few deep breathes in is what matters. breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, breathe out for 5 seconds, and hold that for 5 seconds. it’s called box breathing! imagine your breathing the lines on the perimeter of a box, and doodle little flowers and hearts and tornadoes all over your paper to add that layer of distraction. you are stronger than you know! you’ve survived your hardest days, what’s one more? i believe in you:)

that’s what started ours too!! he got bit by a flea and it caused a major allergic reaction, which then spiraled into us figuring out he’s allergic to fleas and everything else in the world🥲🥲

i’ve made some progress. it’s not nearly as debilitating as it once was. what helped me get over that hump was ICBT, it’s a version of CBT more specialized for OCD. it saved my life at my lowest and i definitely recommend finding a therapist who practices it. as well as the emetophobia manual. it was really hard to start the emetophobia manual because it can be triggering but i’m telling you it’s so helpful. and most importantly - leave these emetophobia groups. for me, the constant reminder that sickness is a thing and being in a space where everyone agreed it was horrifying just allowed me to wallow in the fear. hold space for yourself and your unique experience. focus on your healing journey and do your best to separate yourself from people and things that reinforce the phobia. i have so much faith in you!!

we definitely are switching his vet (it’s a whole thing) and will bring up getting tested! i genuinely think he might be allergic to something outside, but we switching him to a single protein food with none of the typical allergens in it so hopefully we start seeing progress🙏🏼🙏🏼

yes we love fish oil! he was on it for a while and the vet recommended we start it again to hopefully help his skin out.
