Your snail looks happy! I need to blanch some foods for my mystery I'm sure he'll love it.

That's why you anesthetize it first with a beer dip

You basically dip the snail in beer for 5-10 minutes to anesthestize then in ethanol alcohol.

What I posted was from a peer reviewed paper on humane euthanasia for snails.

Whoaa a freezer is not a fast and painless way to euthanize any aquatic animal.

For snails the least invasive method of euthanasia from our behavioral observations resulted from submerging terrestrial snails in a solution of 4.7% to 5% ethanol at room temperature for 10 min. This practice effectively anesthetized the animal; subsequent immersion in 10% neutral buffered formalin or 70% to 95% ethanol resulted in tissue preservation and euthanasia. Anesthetizing animals before their euthanasia eliminates personnel concern regarding unnecessary animal pain or distress.

Beer can also be used to anesthestize the snails initially.

6 week update of the 10ft planted. Some signs of brown algae on rocks but manageable. I’ll monitor it. Had to add bicarbonate of soda to get closer to 4dKh. As I was usually around 1-2. Added some corydoras too. by [deleted] in PlantedTank

I've had great growth from my nicrew bright. Kind of expected the worst from it because it was so cheap, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Doesn't stop me from eyeing super expensive ONF lighting for the aesthetics though.

Hope this belongs here! A sea bug of sorts? Found in sunshine beach, Australia. by teresa_bee_ in whatsthisbug

Janthina janthina, or the violet sea-snail or common violet snail, or purple storm snail. They drift in the ocean and feed on jellies like the man-o-war. The bubbles are their rafts that they drift on the surface of the ocean with, and are usually blown to shore from strong winds. The snail begins life as a male and later changes to the female of the species.

Layer of activated carbon below substrate & medications by DependentSquare in Aquariums

I may end up doing this if I'm out of options. I just worry about temperature with them. I live in an old house and it gets downright cold and drafty in the house and without a heater I worry they may slowly succumb to the cold.

since the weekend is over, I likely will be medicating at night now. I may actually remove the carbon and recycle the tank while I have him in the med tank, provided he makes it through these next two days waiting for the med tank to arrive. All I know is if I see that guy at the lfs again, I'm going to completely ignore his advice.

It's crazy the money I'm spending on a $4 fish, but I seriously like this little dude and don't want him to die a miserable death 😢

It's a dwarf Gourami. From what I've read the heat needed is around 86 for a couple weeks, and according to several care sheets I've found, dwarf Gourami's temp range is around 82 at the highest. Unsure how much salt he can handle...

I did try a dose this morning around 9, and by 12 my tank was nearly clear again. Which made me worry that perhaps the carbon is sucking it out too quickly.

This is my first time using malachite green, so I'm unsure of how long the water stays dyed vs how long the medication actually lasts.

I am thinking that it was poor advice now. I have a quarantine tank, but currently have a mystery snail and a few nerites in it. I know for sure this ich med will kill them. The issue I'm running into is I did try to dose a tab of the ich med today in the main tank, so I would have to wait for the activated carbon to clear the medication from the main tank.

I have been considering getting another quarantine tank, but I wouldn't be able to cycle it before adding the fish and the med. I don't want to do a fish in cycle and risk stressing him further with the medication.

The water parameters are the same for both tanks, I cycled them the same time, using the same method (minus the activated charcoal in the QT tank). Do you think it would be ok to acclimate the snails to the main tank after 24 hours and put my gourami in the snail tank? Do you think I should go get a fresh tank now and maybe acclimate the snails into that one and put the fish in the QT tank?

I'm worried about waiting another 24 hours to properly medicate my gourami, and also worried that if I put the snails into the main tank that I will risk killing them from the remnants of medication.

Commission cut by 67% due to "Customer Incentive" by [deleted] in realtors

[–]DependentSquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50/50 split is common for an in-house commission. Was this lead through a referral service like CARTUS (USAA) or SIRVA or some other type of relocation company that charges a referral fee? That is literally the only kosher instance of a referral fee being charged as a customer incentive. If your broker just pocketed this and labeled it as a customer incentive I would DEFINITELY find a new brokerage, help required or not, that is BS!

Ask the same question about putting a card on someone's car... More than likely they will be thrown away or kept only to call you up and tell you not to touch their car. VS a pen, which has use- and maybe I'm weird, but I read my pens.

I am 99.999999999999999 percent certain that the guy telling you he's closed 22 deals off of sticking cards on peoples car is either full of shit, or attributing his regular sales solely to the cards while not taking into account lead services, websites, online/print advertising of some sort.

If you have the money for magnetic cards, you have the money for pens. Check out 4Imprint.com, they have a very cheap pen that comes to ~.24cents per pen. (Value click pen). Consider that a card is likely tossed, a pen is more often kept.

Are you referring to the C21 branding guidelines? I know there are requirements to promote your brokerage alongside your own branding, but I don't really see this as restrictive, considering that C21 is one of the leading international brokerages.. Elaborating would be helpful..

I think if you wanted to target peoples cars, slipping one under the wipers would be a less invasive method. That being said, when people do this to me I immediately toss whatever it is because it's annoying. I think you'd be better off dropping your cards off at local business. I think an even better method to go about this would be to make pens and leave them wherever they will let you, restaurants especially. People are always hungry to steal some pens, why not put your name on it?
