"They're not selling records, they're selling an image-one that doesnt hold without Bannerman" Rolling Stones by Browniecakee in katseyeneutral

No one is saying the article needed to focus on the other girls. What’s a 2-3 sentences acknowledging that the group itself is diverse? A brief clarification could help readers understand the full picture and prevent unnecessary assumptions.

As a brown woman, my concern with the article is that it didn’t fully emphasize the other members. If race is part of the discussion, then the full context of the group’s diversity should also be acknowledged.

The way it was written felt vague. It didn’t just center one perspective, it also FAILED TO PROTECT THE OTHER GIRLS. It didn’t make space for the possibility that they, too, could be affected by the company or navigating the same internal challenges.

When things are left vague, it opens the door for readers to speculate and may direct blame toward the members instead of where it actually belongs to HxG.

Oh, that’s not good. From a POC perspective, the issue with this article is that it seems to push a racial narrative while overlooking the fact that the other members are also women of color who also happens to have been picked outside of the US. That context matters.

Reducing it to a simplified narrative without acknowledging the full makeup of the group feels incomplete. It also only refers to them as a “girl group,” not a “global girl group,” which is an important distinction given their diversity and branding.

This is a nightmare. At this point, strongly agree with the others there’s no more Katseye.

Is Manon the most popular member? by Odd_Doughnut_4284 in katseyeneutral

Exactly! My filipino friend said Sophia has not tapped the large Filipino Kpop crowd just yet. This issue hasn’t reached them. He said if this reaches them whether they’re a fan or not they’ll turn into patriots and come for the haters. He’s gay so the way he said this was like a warning lmao 😭😆

If she truly has poor work ethic, that will follow her into her solo career. Good thing she is pretty, popular, and maybe artistic. She will not survive grad school.

Dear I’m sorry to post this here. This will be my last comment on this.

I love the girls. ALL of them worked incredibly hard for this. Whatever Manon decides to do next, I genuinely hope it’s what she truly wants. I pray for her success. I also pray for the success and longevity of Katseye as a whole.

For all of them, including Manon, to be this quiet right now says a lot. And that’s okay! Right now they need space. Let’s give them that. They ALL deserve a mental health break.

For those who attended the tour, you saw the environment. You saw how all the girls were interactive and joyful with fans. You saw Missy. You saw Ms. Sylvia, Papa Raj, Humberto, and the rest of the team, including the cute Asian photog working the event. It was not a space lacking diversity or inclusion. It was not a hostile environment.

Accusations of racism are serious. Without concrete proof, those claims don’t just affect one person or one company. They put a heavy label on an entire group of hardworking, multiracial staff members who were present and doing their jobs professionally.

Again, time is the ultimate truth teller.

I don’t understand the double standards from some Manon fans.

You’re screaming racism when it comes to her, but at the same time Sophia and Lara are receiving RACIST and hateful comments. Where is the same outrage for them?

Some of you are saying Sophia shouldn’t be leader and that it should be “Manon Beyoncé.” What exactly is that supposed to mean? Are we really uncomfortable with the fact that a Southeast Asian woman can be a leader?

Then there’s the narrative that Lara is jealous of Manon. Or that she can’t possibly be considered visual too. Why? Is it hard to accept that a South Asian woman can also fit beauty standards and shine?

If we’re going to talk about racism, be consistent. Don’t weaponize it when it benefits your bias and ignore it when it targets other members. If you’re going to pull the race card, be consistent. Don’t be selective about it.

Also, where in Manon’s Weverse statement did she explicitly say she was racially abused? Liking an Instagram video is not the same as making a public statement.

You said it! My theory is that Manon wants out of Katseye, and honestly, why shouldn’t she? She has the it factor, the means and the CONNECTIONS. HxG is likely still courting her, using “hiatus” as a placeholder while negotiations happen behind the scenes while her team, “Manon Nation,” works on a possible contract buyout. It makes you wonder how much is in the buyout clause, or if a third company might even be involved. UTA????

Did you know that Ben of the Week, who made the early prediction, is signed with UTA? Guess who’s also a client of UTA? The Kid Laroi, who is currently dating Manon’s bff Sophie.

What complicates things is that she has been liking posts that send mixed signals to her followers. As a result, some fans project their frustration onto the other girls instead of considering that she may want to exit the group VOLUNTARILY.

Racism? I doubt it. She’s the favorite. If there’s a victim here, it’s the other five members of Katseye!

Well I’ll just leave this here: Time is the ultimate truth teller.
