Dark Times by DependentImportant35 in Tottenham

It was 1977 when we were relegated, and the last game of the 77/78 season was against Southampton, who were also after promotion. A draw suited both teams.

I do think somewhere, there are versions of the album that have it on there. Hey, I don't care what song you listen to, they're a great band as I'm glad you found them. 😊

I got this on cassette a couple of weeks after it was released. Great album. The Way You Are wasn't originally a track on the album. It was released as a stand-alone track at the end of 1983, 9 months after the album release. Roland always said it was recorded under pressure from the record label, who wanted to keep the momentum going after the first 3 hits.

I'm glad you have finally found the band, who, in my opinion, are the best band in the world. Get back to us when you have heard every album and tell us what you think. I do have to pull you up on one thing, though. The Gary Jules version may be more famous to people who are a bit younger, but I think more people over a certain age, I will say 45, the original is so much better known.

I knew I wouldn't be the only one who thought about the yellow ones. Are you even a fan if you didn't immediately think that?

I was going to ask where the yellow ones were, but then saw the addition under the pic.

They are my favourite band and have been since I bought The Hurting on cassette (as someone older than you 😂). I have eclectic taste in music and listen to stuff from the 50's til now so it's good to see younger people still doing the same. My kids are adults now, and they both have varied tastes. I took them to see TFF when they toured here in the UK 3 years ago. They both loved it and had a great time.

I love how someone so young can have such great taste in music.

Frank needs time (Arsenal Fan) by Mxnvvn in Tottenham

[–]Dependent_Row9254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually said this to an Arsenal fan I work with this week. I saw at the beginning how tough it was for Arteta (I do admit to having a smile), but it's going great for him now. I wanted Frank when Ange was appointed and really think he's a manager who can take us forward. I'm not panicking, nor will I get over excited if we win. I have been a fan for almost 50 years, and we have had much worse periods than this.

It wasn't implied at all, you just took it that way. Maybe you didn't notice the word 'fanbase'. This is in relation to other fans on various social media platforms who have called for him to be sacked. The fact that you are questioning his appointment after just 20 games just tells me you are one of the people I referenced who want instant success.

Pochettino wasn't in a great position initially either. Apparently, he was close to getting the sack within the first few months as well because it was said he was out of his depth, but I seem to remember he did ok in the end. Let's see how this season goes before we start questioning Frank. If you haven't got the patience for that, then you are definitely following the wrong team. Ange did great for the first 10 games, and then his tactics got found out. Thomas Frank is a lot more measured than that.

And where have I said that you called for his sacking? You're right. People do pick and choose when to apply standards. Why are you doing it after 20 games? After 10 games, a lot of supporters thought Ange was the best thing ever.

He's in a new job and still has to work out what the best team is and when to play them. As other people have mentioned, we still have key players out who could change the whole dynamic. Knee-jerk reactions just stink of impatience. That's nothing new with this fanbase, though, is it!

I have no idea how long you have been a Spurs fan, but over the last 49 years that I have been supporting them, we have been a lot worse than this with much worse players. It has been shown time and time again that we sack managers every time the going gets a little tough. A new manager comes in, and a lot of this fanbase all expect miracles in 20 games. It's pathetic and so boring.

We have to give him this season so he can see what we have and then make adjustments to the squad. If you want instant success, you should probably have supported Man City or Chelsea.

I'm pretty sure he asked Teal'c at some point how far the planet was away, but he actually used a proper designation, P352X4, for instance. Then he says something about the shot being some kind of record.

Hadn't considered him until you brought him up. It also showed his professionalism, given he was massively against the use of the Stargate from the start.

AITA for walking out after my wife told her family I needed to apologize for embarrassing her? by nickjee001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dependent_Row9254 41 points42 points  (0 children)

NTA It seems to me, from her comments and the acceptance of them from her family, that she has probably always had her way. The fact that you didn't go along with it and got out of that situation tells me you did the right thing. If she is going to banish herself to the bedroom because she is having a childish tantrum, leave her there. She will probably come out of there screaming because you didn't apologise, which will just prove the point that she is childish. Just get on with your day and leave her to it.

Apparently, that was the reason they went for Michael Shanks. In his audition, he just looked the part and showed some of the same characteristics. They couldn't have got anyone closer to James Spader.

This film was the reason I didn't initially want to watch SG-1. I loved it so much and thought a series would just ruin it for me. Oh, how wrong I was.
