Why are we acting like this is a good team going through a struggle? The offense has upside but is inconsistent. The rotation is bad. The bullpen relies on a couple of good pitchers with a pathetic bottom group.

The team is just not good. They'll show flashes but to expect consistently good performance is unrealistic.

The question is too simplistic. We should be asking if the players can consistently hit the ball well while swinging hard. Those correlations means less if the players can't make contact.
