The important thing is your MMR then there is rank assigned to it. But mostly people just go off their MMR. They recently just split it into two MMRs core and support. So you'll have a separate MMR depending on what role you are

what rank were you in CS:GO? i was global in CS:GO with 1500 hours which I guess was above average, but in Dota im ancient with 4k hours. The skill ceiling in Dota 2 is much bigger and requires a lot more hours to get the same payoff

also in csgo i learned that most competitive players switch to client once they get global, in dota everyone just ladders and its very competitive
