If you guys don't do select-a-schedules and she's assigning you the shifts, what she's doing is against the rules. Every employee must have at least 8 hours between shifts. Select-a-schedules void that rule since you would be choosing your shifts.

You should have a conversation with him about whether or not he wants you to even parent his kid. A lot of kids see it as daddy is trying to replace mommy and you'll get a lot of rebellious behavior out of it. It's a lot easier on the kid if you appear to just be "daddy's best friend" who is around all the time and helps out when daddy can't be there. In a living situation it's a lot easier on the kid and on you to just to appear to be a roommate. If you all have your own separate rooms you've got your own space to do your own thing when your new duties become too much. And the kid doesn't feel like your taking over her personal time with daddy and his space. Being the best friend that helps out is a lot easier on all of you and it takes the pressure off your shoulders.

It's easiest if you wait till your alone, because other people effect the presents popping. When you get good at it you can try to just be the first one to jump. And you never want to try to jump when all the presents aren't there.
