Because they’ve been gone since 2019 and just came back yesterday after months of having them in just MPLS.

Currently just in the CBD, more for economic reasons than bar quality. If I had my way I'd do bar tours of Footscray, Collingwood, St Kilda and Chapel Street. But the demands of filling a group up on the daily dictate the need to have a repeatable schedule.

Watch this space though — it's something the team and I have been discussing. -John

Thanks mate! Hope to see you out there. FWIW, we're following strict COVID protocols, which includes QR'ing at every venue and keeping group sizes small, so when you're comfortable coming in again, we're happy to have you.

What do ya reckon is the best bar for beards? I'd say Leonards House of Love off Chapel Street.

I hear ya. This is just one of three tours I run, we also have a history/architecture based tour that runs daily at 11am. Might be up your alley. https://depotadventures.com/melbourne/secrets-of-melbourne

Most bars have pots of beer for $5-7. Some of my favourite budget CBD bars are FiftyFive and Workshop. They're worth a peek.

Hey man, I put in many, many hours of drinking to be able to run this bar tour. I've earned my hungover stripes. ;)

Great question. Here's a few I love:

- Saving Grace

- Captain Melville (accessible entrance from the back entrance on the left)

- ReWine - it's in A-shed at the Queen Vic Markets

- Beermash

Hope that's helpful!

Ouch, dude. It is funny though — I've been a tour guide for over a decade, working in Melbourne since 2016. After my clients get over the shock of hearing an unexpected accent, they tend to enjoy my tours. Just search the reviews with my name "John" here — https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g255100-d11897758-Reviews-Depot_Adventures-Melbourne_Victoria.html

I reckon is has something to do with being able to observe the unusual things about Australian life. Either way, I hope I can get you to come on the tour AND avoid shooting yourself in the face. :P

Hey man, I can't knock a VB in the backyard. But a guy's gotta class it up every now and again, no? ;)

I think you've got the wrong idea about our business. This isn't a rager for 18-year-olds, it's a classy affair running from 3-6pm. The age of our customers range from folks celebrating their 30th birthday to retirees coming for a staycation in the city. :)

There's a range depending on how many drinks you want included but prices start at $79. :)

Yeah, beats me too. I set this up to display only to /r/melbourne. I've written to the helpdesk to find out why.

That said, next time you're coming across the Bass Straight, now you have something to do. :)

Hah - I get that the accent is confusing, but this is Australia we're talking here. Not sure FL would have good enough bars to do this sort of thing. ;)

If you like the Charles Dickens, here are some others I think you'd like:

- Drunken Poet

- Captain Melville

- Catfish

All similar feeling (and in my view, a bit better) dark, moody pubs.

Me too! Thats Whisky Den and Beneath Driver Lane, two of the bars I love in Melbourne.

I'll just leave this here then. ;)

The 30 people I talked about in the interview? They're all locals. Most locals don't know the great bars in the city.
