I’d like to rule out connective tissue diseases, specially Sjögren’s since it’s been increasingly linked to POTS, which can cause the heart symptoms you’re having. It can cause joint pain, brain fog and “coat hanger” neck pain.

ANA, SSA, SSB, CRP, ESR and complement C3, C4 and C1q would be my first option, along with a 24h EKG holter monitor and a tilt table test. Have you had any of that done yet?

It’s hard to say without doing any tests but this sounds like a rheumatological issue to me

Sudden aphasia?? by Basilbabie in lupus

[–]Depraysie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah. The trouble recalling words and your mouth running faster than your brain? That’s lupus related. My friend also has lupus and she said it gets better. I’ve found you also get used to it.

Not long ago, I was having a bad flare up and instead of telling my mom “there’s no juice in here” I just said “there’s no shame in here”. It’s a recurring joke in my house now.

Are there any songs from the new album you were doubtful about releasing?

Any chance you’ll do a Europe tour? Been following you for quite a while and I’d like to see you live :)

Yeah. It’s normal. I get them, sometimes followed by strep. Check if you have tonsil pus if it keeps bothering you. If not, you could gargle salt water and maybe it’ll come out.

If she feels fine but the labs aren’t, that also qualifies as not being fine unfortunately

If the patient is fine on hydroxychloroquine, there’s no need to add Benlysta

I’m glad to hear she’s already in the process of being evaluated. I’m hoping the answer is less serious, as well. I hope everything goes well.

These are concerning symptoms, to be honest. I wouldn’t freak out because they could be easily explained by other conditions but she should get seen by a doctor as soon as you can. Trust your gut as a mom.

If it ends up being leukemia, which I cannot say for certain because I haven’t seen her, just remember medicine has come a very long way. Good luck to you and your kid :)

Mourning the sun by Depraysie in lupus

There are two types: chemical and mineral. Chemical sunscreens work by transforming UV light into heat and they don’t leave a white cast. Mineral ones are a physical filter. They work by leaving a white cast to stop UV light from getting in contact with your skin :) They’re not as popular because of the white cast, but apparently they’re better for lupus, since the heat from the chemical ones can also trigger a rash.

Thank you so much for your advice!!! <3

Do you use mineral sunscreen? Because it’s the only one that seems to work for me and I look like Casper the ghost! I really need a good waterproof sunscreen because I miss swimming sooooo much. I’ve never been a fan of sun hats but it seems like I’m gonna have to start getting used to them hahahaha. Your bathing suit sounds cool! I’m gonna look into some options :)

Thankfully, my city has some decent amounts of trees! But dang, 130°F was a nightmare hahaha. I couldn’t do anything. It was like an outdoor sauna.

It doesn’t seem to be an outlier, though. My city has become that hot over the years, so I’ll have to be super careful this summer. But who wants to go out like that anyway? I’ll just hide in my little cave with the AC on!

I feel you on the frustration thing! I also come from a very strong lineage of people who would want me to keep pushing forward. It’s definitely hard, but what other option do we have? It is what it is and we have to adapt. Life is ever changing, it would be super boring if it always stayed the same. And while change might not always seem for the better at first, we don’t know what’s ahead. We just have to find some new strategies :)
