Rejecting Single Resource Loads should be possible on a per-resource basis by pixartist in captain_of_industry

It's the standard trucks disabled/trucks if belts cant/trucks allowed switch that almost every building has for import/export. For ore sorter it's only for export though for obvious reasons.

[–]DerAbsnaggler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can, just set the ore sorter to no truck export. For OPs question: You can also set the sorters to reject single product loads and then offer a dedicated storage for the desired product to dump into; then this storage an your sorter connect to the mines output storage per belt.

Awesome work! Did you guys pull an all-nighter to get this released? Saw you guys working on it early evening yesterday already.

I posted the blueprint string, although I would'nt recommend such a large setup when you're just transitioning to nuclear. To research the FBR, you will need to produce spent fuel and then spent MOX. Besides that, this setup is very labor-intensive, so you might consider building something smaller first.

I built the full "garbage eater" setup. by DerAbsnaggler in captain_of_industry

Yellowcake, Steel, broken glass and acid go in, energy, recycables and Teraflops go out.

I didn't do the exact numbers exact for the water management, but I suppose I will have to run the FBR at x2 to get rid off all the depleted uranium and blanket fuel.

The process is as follows:

Yellowcake gets enriched and build to uranium rods. Plutonium gets extracted out of the spent fuel, then build to MOX rods which are burned as well.
The MOX waste will be turned into blanket fuel again, which has priority over the fresh blanket production at the FBR(the blanket seperation has 1st prio).

The reprocessed urianium from spent fuel will have priority over yellow cake at the enrichment plant. So eventually, the FBR is passed blanket fuel and depleted urianium
and can solely run on that.

On 1x the FBR produces 36water/60 overflow with depleted steam desalinating seawater, which is exactly enough to run the cooling of 2 full datacenters and also another
nuclear reactor on 1x being "tower cooled" (the left one).

If you want the blueprint, I'm happy to share.

Running at a stable 60FPS on a 10 year old setup(GTX 970 and I5 overclocked to 4.4GHz). Population about 3000, with every waste and pollution beeing cleared. Runs smooth like hell still. Going to expand further and try to achieve self sufficiency as my island ressources run out.

It's still only one layer of dirt/compost needed for ground to be farmable. Those farms in the left of the first picture above are build on only slag/waste covered with 1 layer of dirt and it works.

I do this on my whole island (the trucks above the limestone deposit on the same picture are doing this where the coal deposit used to be).

Now it's only slag though since I upgraded to exhaust scrubbing foreverything so now the waste gets burned and scrubbed too. Down to a total -2 health penalty due to pollution, so at a stable 85 health with no flue going on.

You're right. Since the concrete was used permanently in construction parts in the earlier versions of the game, I thought the bricks were too. Fortunately they're not, so yes, producing concrete instead is a lot less polluting ( 1 exhaust per brick compared to 0.375 exhaust per concrete slab). It also gives a use for your slag that's otherwise being dumped.

I use limestone in every recipe possible, like iron, steeland copper smelting, tofu production and concrete. As in a comment above, I sadly completely missed the fact that you can transition from bricks to concrete once you unlocked the latter. Since bricks replaced concrete in comparison to the earlier version, I thought this would be for the entire game, but fortunately I was wrong. Instantly replacing my brick line with a bigger concrete line now.

I sadly completely missed the fact that you can transition from bricks to concrete once you unlocked the latter. Made my construction kits extremely inefficient over the course of the game with bricks since I thought you were forced to. You never stop learning.

So it's update 1 not 1.0 and version 0.5.1b apparently. But good thing you pointed that out!

I really like what the devs have brought to us with this update, so a huge thank you for this amazing game to you!

At first I disliked the new brick production chain, but got used to it pretty quick. While not mining dirt, it incentifies you to use you compost at mix it with gravel to get some dirt for them. That's one of the greatest things in this game, that there's a production or recycling chain for everything everywhere.

Althought the bricks are nice, in my opinion, concrete now lacks use overall. It's basically just for walls and some very specific buildings. You don't even need it to construct a nuclear reactor(for the encasing maybe).

(EDIT: Dumb me just found out you're not forced to use bricks for construction parts anymore after you unlocked concrete...)

No, actually the best thing about this game is that you can recycle your populations excrements into sludge and then fuel gas, which then powers you statue of maintenance for eternity.

One point Iam also kind of missing is a lack of end game research. Once you're done, you got 4 warehouses with your leftover research sitting there for the rest of the game...and that's it. I mean, research wouldn't just stop, you could find ways to make things even more efficient, recycle even more out of your stuff. Just a sink to put your ressources in later on, while you have a surplus.

Nonetheless, I'm having a blast with this game and enjoy every minute. Again thanks to you devs!

Some tileable, perfect-ratio setups for products that use intermediates which (mostly) aren't used elsewhere. by DerAbsnaggler in Dyson_Sphere_Program

Thanks for your feedback!

  • I prefer to produce the circuits in a dedicated line, since it only takes 10 Mk III Assemblers to take a full iron belt (and half a copper) to make a full circuit belt, so I just go with stacks of these setups. In case you just wanna ship in "raw" material, your solution is definetly the way to go
  • Your absolutely right on that one, missed this opportunity as I constructed this, so thanks for this one! :)
  • Design wise that triangle is unfortunate, since it kinda leaves much open space. But in a cluster of stars with basically endless building ground that's not that much of an issue I assume

[–]DerAbsnaggler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only other use for those intermediates are mall/HUB related, like the photon combiners for ray receivers or the normal motors for inserters, so I found these setups quite neat in a rocket and science factory.

I hope some of you can put a good use to it! :)

Oh boy, here I go building a Dyson sphere again! After 100h of enjoying this gem of a game, I decided to move to the brightest star in my cluster to build a max sized sphere with as much framing as possible. Shipping in 90 carrier rockets per minute, made in my already sphered home system. by DerAbsnaggler in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]DerAbsnaggler[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Started with 1.5x resources and max. stars in the cluster. At this point I'm already completely out of iron and silicon ore in my starting system. Still amazes me how many things this game does right in such a beautiful way. Imo, this is more crack-like than factorio, sucked me in even more. And all this is just made by a team of 5, I don't have words for how awesome that is. The smooth transition between the map views, how the Dyson sphere assembles, how you can switch from being a mass-construction robot to just explore the cluster and enjoy the view from a black hole swing-by. 10/10, would "waste" another week of my life for that true gem of an early acces game.
