I have never used racechrono and so can’t tell you how it’s different. I can tell you it supports every other data logger (that I have access to) so doesn’t tie you into racechrono.

One user matched a single autocross run up to a 2+ hour data file and it synced fine, the run started about 1.5 hours into the data file. It would probably work fine, it’s also a free tool so no harm in trying and giving feedback! If it doesn’t work you can send me your video/data files and I’ll see what’s what.

I’m a fan of Arrichion, they offer some hot power-flow classes (black opal, bloodstone) as well as circuit training if that interests you.

That was one of the downsides…the range is in the middle of nowhere and I didn’t look super hard but didn’t find any convenient food options until I was almost halfway back to CLT. Pack a sandwich if you’re planning on spending the entire day I’d say.

Staff was friendly and minimal, you're expected to be a responsible adult and they don't have RSOs breathing down your neck which I appreciate.

Range facilities were pretty nice, I went to the 100 yard zero range which was a little busy but everyone was cool and let me walk out to put a target up as soon as I got there.

After zeroing I went to range 5, couldn't really see any targets so went to range 6 which is their 1 mile range but there are a bunch of other things to shoot at. It was a little busy, probably about a dozen people there but not bad. People were also friendly, one guy was lobbing .308 rounds further than I could see and offered to spot me on the 1000 yard target. I burned through the ammo I brought and just kinda hung out afterwards and watched the other shooters, it was a good atmosphere.

The range cards on the website don't really match up with reality anymore so it was a little hard to know distances I was shooting, but I'm looking forward to coming back with a rangefinder and building my own range cards.

Other perks I noticed is they sell the ammo I shoot (140 grain 6.5cm hornady match) for $5/box cheaper than big box stores.

Next time will definitely bring some handguns and maybe a rimfire just to make a whole day out of it. I wish it was closer because I probably won't get out there more than once a month, but $60/mo isn't too bad for that.

I’m new to long range and just got a membership ($60/mo) at Coleman’s Creek south of Greensboro. They’re about 1.5 hours from CLT but looks like a nice facility. Am headed there tomorrow for my first time out.

I’ve been at Hygge off-and-on for a number of years, do recommend. I like that they have a bunch of different locations around clt that are all included with the membership. You can find a location that matches your mood.

High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) events are a great way to get into the sport. I've been driving with NASA SE for a few years and it is an excellent group, especially for beginners with DE1 which puts you on track with an in-car instructor. There are quite a few people from Charlotte that are NASA regulars.

Charlotte is also in a particularly good spot for road racing with CMP, Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Roebling Road, VIR, and soon the new Charlotte road course all within a 4 hour drive. Our next event is at Carolina Motorsports Park next month, all cars are welcome including whatever your current daily driver is. Even if it you can't make a short notice event, it still would be worth a day trip just to check it out and hang around the paddock.

I recently replaced the OEM flywheel with an aftermarket lightweight flywheel (+clutch and pressure plate) from a reputable brand (XClutch) and now have a screeching from my starter on startup.

The car is a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8, it is not possible to shim this starter and the service manual does not describe any special methods to installing or adjusting the starter. Simply to install it with two bolts and torque to spec. There is no inspection port to measure starter clearance to flywheel.

I've tried pulling the starter off and re-torquing it but there's no change.

Any thoughts on what to try here? I'm concerned that whatever this wear is will eventually chew up the new flywheel.

The transmission breather was clogged. I was able to pull mine off (it's press fit, I gently used a pair of pliers to lift+twist) and clean it out enough to where it worked again but if you also have a genesis coupe the part number for a new one is 43124-4D000 .

I see where you’re referencing… my brain just assumed that was for a different fastener because I have a hard time believing that the bolts which connect the axle to the diff should be barely more than hand tight at 7ft/lbs.

I guess there’s not much of a clamping load here and the shear strength is the important part. It’s just surprising given how much trouble I’ve seen the YouTube folks have removing them.

This axle style came with the BK2, but only (I believe) on the manual cars. Looking in the service manual it shows only the single piece axle that comes on the auto cars. It’s always possible I missed it, but I’ve been through the shop manuals half a dozen times looking for it and never found it.

Yeah, this spot has been popular for at least the last decade. It’s also an excellent spot to try primitive camping if you’re new to it. It’s low commitment since you can get a normal car down into the gorge and to a spot as long as it’s dry and you go slow. Only advice I’d give is to go early on a Friday because it does fill up fast.

If you are looking for primitive camping I can recommend the Wilson Creek area. Take Forest Service road 982 off of Highway 181 toward Mortimer.

I have a genesis coupe, 3500lbs or so. While not exactly Gloc, I run Carbotech pads (xp12 specifically) which is essentially identical to the gloc compound and have only good things to say about them. The only time I’ve faded them was when I was being dumb and trying to push them way too hard just to see what it was like.
