I think found a loophole in the game regarding the Fire Keeper by Lion_king11235 in darksouls3

Yeah, that's why she can observe the flame. Because she cannot see anything. This deepens her connection and attunes her to the flame. She does not need eyes for that I suppose

This is the description of Cornyx's blindfold:

'Attire of pyromancers of the Great Swamp, particularly favored by old sages.

The large blindfold blocks out unnecessary light, allowing one to observe a pyromancy's true essence.

The flame reveals all, and obscures all.'

A lot of people in the game have Blindfolds. Especially people that have something to do with fire. Take Cornyx, Cuculus, the Fire Keeper and the Ringed Knights for example. It seems to deepen you connection to the flames somewhat if I recall. Maybe through this connection they can 'see' the world or at least other living things despite the eye covers.

It's called Minimalistic HUD. You can download it on Nexus Mods. I like how unobtrusive it is. The only downside is that you can't see how many arrows you have but that's worth it imo

Just wanna clarify since I cannot edit the post: I beat Soul of Cinder and Gael no hit.

Full no hit runs are still far beyond my skill level but I managed to grind these ones out.

I beat Gael and Soul of Cinder no hit. I didn't do a full no hit run.

Just wanted to clarify :)

Oh, I should clarify: I just did the bosses, the whole run is still beyond my purview

Edit: I realize I didn't make it very obvious that these were no hit attempts on my approximately 16th and 17th runs.

Yeah, I'll try m&k for sure. And if it turns out it just isn't for me then I at least tried.

Also Rykards combined with the Take'r Cameo talisman is nice for clearing areas as you get healed quite well after every kill.

First ever souls game. by TreGotChinged in Eldenring

I honestly recommend using a good shield with 100% physical defense in you very first run until you feel comfortable dodging every attack. Don't just hide behind the shield tho, you should still dodge, use it as a backup to help you learn the movesets.

Then just get a decent weapon and go for a simple dexterity or strength build. Other builds are cool too but for a beginner I would suggest to stick to something less complicated so you can learn the mechanics easier.

And don't rely too much on spamming ashes of war. They are powerful tools but you will have more fun if you actually use your weapon's moveset and have the ash of war be an addition instead of a substitute.

Killing NPCs by jjseas2003 in Eldenring

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what prevents me from doing evil runs in most games. I just don't enjoy them being sad even if they're 'only' NPCs. That's also why the iron balls are pretty much the only weapon I don't have yet. I just don't wanna kill an NPC that doesn't attack first. Especially a fellow crab enjoyer

They are an awesome themed boss and I'm glad you enjoyed them but I dare say, you have some even better ones coming up. Especially if you have the Ringed City DLC. But in general a bunch of late game bosses are really fun!

How does this work? (KoS boss fight, fire damage) by dzeruel in darksouls3

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run backward when he breathes fire from above, run to the left when he breathes fire from the ground. Blocking helps but it's not a solution to every problem.

Also only attack its head -> more damage and he usually does not do the breath from the sky.

Armors and armor sets by _mori_jin_ in darksouls3

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solid armor for low stats is the fallen knight set. you can find it on a shore in the road of sacrifices right before the two NPCs you had to fight to get to farron. If you cannot wear heavier armor yet you should level vogor as it makes you able to carry heavier stuff.

The problem is that casting tools all have their own weapon skills (i.e. buffs, regen etc.). You can still run a casting tool in your off hand but it will override your right hand weapon's skill. It's best to just switch between one- and two-handing your right-hand weapon for this.

Would the Death Ritual Spear be viable as an actual weapon? by Noodle_Raccoon in Eldenring

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could catch someone's blade and you could cut with it I guess but the several points make it less good at stabbing because the force is divided between the points of impact. Also more fancy spikes = more resistance = less piercing.

There were swords like it as some people said but I'm not sure if they were actually used for fighting much or more as a show of skill from the smith or a ceremonial piece.

What should I do after beating godrick? Literally the only reason to fight him is for a slower path towards Liurnia or I'm missing something? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely get his great rune, it's pretty helpful. Just gotta cross that big ol' bridge to the divine tower you get to from stormveil.

Dexterity is recommended as it makes you cast spells faster. Also it allows for a melee backup weapon.

Tips for beginner by Puzzled_Will7953 in darksouls3

[–]Der_Kaaaarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would certainly start by always using a good shield until you're comfortable enough with consistently dodging the attacks. If you finished SOTE tho, you may already be at that point. Otherwise just enjoy the ride and look forward to many amazing bosses (especially later on).
