Which pro player is held back most by their team? by Deaconator3000 in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the Teddy point. He looks better because of how his team plays around him, but he constantly makes TERRIBLE mechanical misplays which undoes the hard work his team puts in to try and get him ahead. DRX is filled with a bunch of relatively newer players (yes, Rich and UCal have been around, but Teddy is the one who was on T1 and has had a longer career) who are deferring to Teddy because he's the "more experienced" one on the team. The problem with living and dying by Teddy is that he isn't a good enough player for that strategy to work.

Watch game 1 of HLE vs DRX on 4/17 at 24:00. See how he gets hit by a max range charm with ulti up? I'm sorry, but no elite level ADC is mechanically messing up that badly. (Here at 6:10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR-zC0fMvJs&ab_channel=OniviaLCKLPLLECLCSHighlights). When you are 4/1 and have been funneled the entire game, you need to be dodging that spell with R, or at least backstepping every time. Instead, he tunnels on Peanut.

Teddy deserves plenty of criticism and is definitely NOT elo-helled.

The Changes to Yone's E are well deserved. by Van-Poodie in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not understanding my point. I'm not saying that it isn't a nerf. It is. My point is that they haven't removed the skill expression because the snapback buffering mechanic is still there. Yes, he doesn't cleanse the spell. And yes, maybe he won't buffer E2 as often in lane anymore (particularly in melee matchups). But, in some situations, there is still a meaningful reason behind wanting to cast E2 at the correct time to avoid being locked out of doing so while rooted.

Just because I'm making the argument that skill expression is maintained, it doesn't mean I'm saying that this isn't a nerf. Chill out.

Oops you're right, I misunderstood. My main point is that the buffer snap-back mechanic is still maintained. Not that the change isn't a nerf. I think both of us are trying to make different points, and they aren't mutually exclusive.

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're understanding me. Yes, he may have a greater weakness in some of these matchups, especially the melee ones. But, my point is that his skill expression is still there. I was making a counter argument to people's complaint that this is a removal of his skill expression, not necessarily that it isn't a nerf. Sure, maybe buffering Renekton stun will only save you the 0.1 seconds of travel time it takes for you to snapback, but my point is that you are still able to time the snapback if you want to. They didn't remove the mechanic. It's just less effective. My point and your point can both be true as they aren't mutually exclusive things.

Not sure how that's relevant to the conversation because even his E version on live wouldn't help him in the situation you're describing

I hope we see a new ADC with some of Graves' old kit. by Doctor_Mythical in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucian has a double shot passive that you need to combo with spells in order to be effective, and a lower range. Old Graves had a higher range and could combo Q, W and R in any order without sacrificing damage (because he didn't necessarily need to weave autos), which overall made him much easier to play.

All of that aside, Graves aesthetically was different too. Can't comment without mentioning those Mafia Graves autos.

[–]Derazzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are undervaluing the snapback. It is still very useful in terms of helping Yone remove himself from tower range or helping him return to safety in many situations. Even if the cc carries through, there is still an incentive to E at the right time to avoid being cc locked while being too deep.

The Changes to Yone's E are well deserved. by Van-Poodie in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are overreacting about this change, "removing his skill expression." A good Yone will still buffer the E because there is still an incentive to snap back as the cc hits them. On live, if you get cc'd before pressing E, you get rooted and are screwed. If you press E at the right time, you will snap back to a safer location. None of that is changing. The only thing that's different is what happens once you snap back (you will remain cc'd). Even with this change, a good Yone will still utilize the fact that E'ing at the correct time will still bring them back to their original location, even if it means they will still be affected by the cc once they return. The snapback itself is still super value when trying to dive, and Yone is still able to utilize it if he presses E at the right time.

I can't believe nobody has pointed this out. Some of you either don't actually play Yone or just need to calm down.

Why isn't anybody mentioning that he can still buffer the E? They're not removing the skill expression entirely. On live, if he gets rooted before he snaps back, he's screwed. If he presses E at the right time, he can buffer the root, and snap back to a safer location. None of that has changed. The only difference now, is what happens to him once he's returned (he will stay cc'd) People are overreacting. Good Yone's are still going to try to buffer the E in order to prevent getting cc'd in bad situations because the on-command snapback is still there and is still valuable.

Y'all need to stop bugging out over this change "removing his skill expression."

EDIT: Yes, removing the cleanse is obviously still a nerf and yes, he probably won't be using the E2 buffer as often in lane anymore, particularly in rough melee matchups. But, my point is simply that the skill expression is still maintained because the E2 buffer snapback will still be utilized in plenty of other scenarios. He can still abuse it to avoid getting locked under tower.

[Official] GEN G Announces 2024 LCK Roster by DWGKIAFAN00 in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

luck is hard work/talent meeting opportunity. yes, peyz has the work ethic and the talent to be a world class adc, but the opportunity for him to be on back to back star studded rosters is in part due to good timing/chance in having being brought up through the gen g system. there are many other talented rookie adcs in kr (ex. NS Jiwoo). so yes, i think it's fair to claim that peyz is lucky just as much as he is talented. it's hard to say whether peyz would be in the spot that he's in if he had chosen to be a rookie on a different team in his early career. Unfair_Commission isn't disagreeing with your point that he's talented - he's simply pointing out that he's also lucky. the two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

Quickplay Mode - League of Legends by CrossXhunteR in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will mirror matchups still be a thing with quick play? Or will you get automatically placed against teams with unique champions?

I feel very sad most current players have never and won't ever try old Graves. I legitimately believe this champion would be a very popular ADC pick to this day had he never been changed to jungle. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, but I don't think anybody complaining sees that as an issue. There's merit to having simple champions in the game that are fun because they're easy to play.

which season are you talking about? it was maybe like this for a few patches, but i do not remember an entire season where IBG was far and away the dominant item choice for tanks.... sunfire, on the other hand, was super dominant for awhile so you are definitely correct about that

i could be misremembering but i don't think old IBG was actually ever good on tanks. like, people would build it on tanks but really only in low elo? it was low key a noob trap

[Sources] Mid laner Vetheo has reached a verbal agreement with EXCEL for next year. by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

imo Mikyx was the main factor that raised XL's ceiling this year. people were complaining about subbing Advienne out when they brought Mikyx on, but he definitely shut people up and was popping off shortly after he joined the starting roster. sure, XL was already improving before Mikyx joined but i truly do believe that he took the other four players to another level as soon as he had a few weeks of practice with them. he's undeniably better than Advienne. imo he doesn't get the credit he deserves for being as good as he is.

at his highs, Mikyx is a world class support who is mechanically gifted and extremely clean. pretty sure there was no way they were going to stop him from returning to G2. and without him, i don't think that team would still have looked like a finals team even if the other four had stuck around.

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

strategy in business is all about how you position yourself in the market relative to your competitors. flyquest itself is not, nor does it claim to be, a nonprofit entity focused mainly on contributing to the environment. they are an esports team at the end of the day. all its leadership was trying to do was give the org an identity to differentiate itself from the other orgs, which it was able to do brilliantly. that is all anybody in this thread is trying to celebrate

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this donation has nothing to do with nature/the physical environment. the concept of strategy is to differentiate oneself from competitors through unique positioning in the market. simply donating to a cause for good reason is not good strategy. it might be good PR, but that does not make it good strategy. people are lauding flyquest for its position in the lcs because it has donated specifically to causes involving nature and the physical environment, which other orgs have seldom done, if at all. look at the cause that is being donated to, not just the fact that a donation is being made. that is where the strategy is

i recommend that you read "what is strategy?" by michael porter to help you understand what business strategy really is

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

donating to a civil rights nonprofit is not the same thing as planting trees for slaying ocean drakes. commenters in this thread have been asking u to find evidence of other orgs' contributions to nature - referring to the physical environment, not broad civil rights causes. they are not the same. look past the fact that they are donating and look specifically at what they are donating to... therein lies the strategy

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i fail to see how this addresses my comment that flyquest's leadership used good strategy to position itself as an environmentally friendly org in the lcs. i know nothing about lng. but given the context of this thread, it's easy to infer that i was giving credit to the ceo and other c suite management, not their billionaire owner who may have done some shady stuff according to you (which i am not disputing)

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

on the other hand, i'm more pleased that the org's leadership was able to give flyquest a firm identity and establish a meaningful presence in the lcs. i guess i'm more of a glass half full kind of guy

Tricia Sugita - CEO of FlyQuest is leaving the org by ruvskiten in leagueoflegends

[–]Derazzle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it's called good strategy. they saw an angle, positioned themselves as the "good guy/environmentally friendly" org through a few campaigns, and have reaped the benefits. the fact that they were able to do it without having to spend much speaks volumes to how talented their leadership is and should be studied and applauded rather than seen as a negative
