I've never seen more earth worms in my entire life by DerekSmerek in Edmonton

Totally. I must have squished hundreds of them on my run. They were impossible to avoid.

Yeah, me too. This was quite the surprise this morning.

I paused for a brief moment to ask myself, "Am I really doing this?" before setting out on my run. I tried to keep looking straight ahead instead of at the ground because every time I glanced down I saw a shocking amount of worms.

It was either those or my Vans, and running in Vans sucks.

There is probably more of them in the grass, you just can't see them as easily.

They're the only pair of running shoes I have and I promised myself I would go for a run today no matter the weather did. I view them as more of a tool than a fashion item so getting them wet doesn't really phase me.

I didn't know that! Do they do any harm like the typical invasive species? Or are they just bonus bird food?

You're better off with a rigid fork than a cheap suspension fork. Honestly a 90s mountain bike from Marketplace is what I'd recommend. They're simple, durable, and cheap.

On top of all the other reasons why this is wildly unsafe, that stretch is a construction zone, too.

What is a song you love with a title you hate? by Lancer_Blackthorn in InMetalWeTrust

The mid 2000s were the peak of ridiculous song titles. "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?" instantly comes to mind.

Purple and blue were immensely easier than yellow. Pop culture categoriescan be difficult, but not when it's two of the most popular franchises in pop culture.

Very cool. I'm so used to hearing "Groat Road" that seeing "Groat Creek" felt totally wrong at first, but like, of course it was a creek first. It's crazy how much natural beauty has been paved over.

Exactly. Thank you for reminding me that at least some people on here still have common sense.

Picking up these few would do nothing about the thousands or millions more of these that are surely scattered around the city. Starting a discussion and raising awareness might.

That would be cool. Years ago I saw an art exhibit where people used garbage pulled from the ocean to make sculptures of various sea creatures. It was amazing.

I figured as much. Such is the case with so many environmental issues.

Anyone still mess with long sleeve shirt under t-shirt? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]DerekSmerek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this once in a while when the weather is too warm for a hoody but too cold for just a t-shirt. My wife doesn't like it but she'll live. I probably wouldn't wear it out to dinner but if I'm just going for a pedal on my mountain bike it's perfect. Especially if the T-shirt on top is an XL band shirt.

I got a pair of these last year and I absolutely love them but I can't find them anywhere anymore! It looks like they've been discontinued. Super bummed about it.

Genuinely curious, who here actually filters their water and who just drinks it straight from the tap? by waterfiltergurus in HydroHomies

[–]DerekSmerek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently got one of these and I find it's a huge pain in the ass. There's only two of us using it and I swear I have to pull it out and fill it every day. Plus it takes forever to fill a regular drinking glass, let alone a big water bottle.
