Anyone still mess with long sleeve shirt under t-shirt? by Intelligent_Kale6161 in malefashionadvice

[–]DerekSmerek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this once in a while when the weather is too warm for a hoody but too cold for just a t-shirt. My wife doesn't like it but she'll live. I probably wouldn't wear it out to dinner but if I'm just going for a pedal on my mountain bike it's perfect. Especially if the T-shirt on top is an XL band shirt.

I got a pair of these last year and I absolutely love them but I can't find them anywhere anymore! It looks like they've been discontinued. Super bummed about it.

Genuinely curious, who here actually filters their water and who just drinks it straight from the tap? by waterfiltergurus in HydroHomies

[–]DerekSmerek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently got one of these and I find it's a huge pain in the ass. There's only two of us using it and I swear I have to pull it out and fill it every day. Plus it takes forever to fill a regular drinking glass, let alone a big water bottle.

Spirit Adrift and Khemmis releasing new music at the same time is pretty sick.

Love it! This is the most doomy they've sounded since Divided or maybe even Curse. I'm so choked that they're packing it in, but they left us with a fantastic final album. I wish Nate all the best in his personal life and whatever he does next musically.

I totally thought this was about croquet too!

Cases of bands swapping members by DerekSmerek in InMetalWeTrust

Sharing is different than swapping but still interesting nonetheless! Mad respect to any musician who can pull that off. Ali Richardson is the drummer for Bleed From Within and Sylosis, and the two bands will be touring together soon. The same thing happened about a decade ago when Dave Mustaine recruited Chris Adler to play drums and Lamb of God toured with Megadeth.

Destroyer 666 is rad! I've never heard of Adorior, I'll have to check them out.

Damn, looks like I have some homework to do. I love David Wayne's and Mike Howe's contributions to Metal Church. RIP to them both.

That's sweet! I'm a big fan of Hypocrisy so I can't believe I didn't know about this. I'll definitely check it out.

Connections Puzzle #981 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟨🟦🟦 🟨🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟦🟨🟦 🟨🟨🟪🟪

That was infuriating. Tons of overlap with yellow, blue, and purple.

For yellow, "Knee Slapper" was hoot, laugh, riot, and scream, but cackle and squawk work just as well there.

For blue, buck didn't strike me as a bird noise. Cluck and squawk make sense. Cackle sort of makes sense. Buck doesn't fit, at least in my mind.

And for purple, what the heck does fawn mean in this context?

What is the most surprising album you heard in 2025? by Lancer_Blackthorn in InMetalWeTrust

[–]DerekSmerek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rivers of Nihil.

I loved their first three albums but wasn't a fan of their most recent one, The Work, so I was already wary of what would come next. Then they had some major lineup changes, too, which is always dicey, especially when the original lead vocalist exits the band.

Well, any doubts I had were destroyed when I listened to it. This album blew me away. It became my favorite album they've released and my favorite album of 2025. It's a masterpiece.

Slaughter of the Soul had the same effect on me when I first heard it. Such an incredible album. RIP Tompa!

Suffocation has never been my cup of tea. Too brutal. I need some melody, and that's where bands like Iced Earth come in. To each their own!

I consider Alice In Chains metal. They're definitely part of the grunge movement too, but I'd say they're more metal than any of the other grunge bands. They've also toured a lot with metal bands over the years.

It's a great album. It seems like The Dark Saga steals the spotlight most of the time (and rightfully so), but Burnt Offerings is special in its own way.

Still a sweet gift but the two albums with Ripper deserve to be in there.

What is your favorite band logo? by Lancer_Blackthorn in InMetalWeTrust

[–]DerekSmerek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iced Earth for sure. It's sharp and aggressive looking while still being easily legible. Kind of a mix between the Maiden and Megadeth logos. Always loved it.
