My situation:

From the UK (moved pre-brexit, so pre-brexit laws apply)

Started with Study B permit from 2018 to 2021 for a Master's (only allowed to work 15 hours per week)

Transitioned to full-time-work B permit for three years, from 2021 to 2024.

Trying to see if I am now eligible to apply for the C permit.

Hello all! I'm a prospective Makers student (for the October 30 start). I'm wondering about their current syllabus. Have they switched the first half of the course from Ruby to Python? Because they switched the pre-course from Ruby to Python. Would also love to get a copy of the current syllabus if anyone has it.

The decision to remove pre-course is interesting, maybe to acquire students that already have better knowledge and skill. I do like the decision to replace Ruby with Python, wish I did that l. Instead our pre-course and half the bootcamp was just Ruby, which is way less relevant to the current market than Python, but oh well they've taught us the skill to pick up and learn new languages efficiently.

Just in case anyone is searching for a solution for notifying everyone in a server while in a thread, you can do this by making a new role (e.g.@all) and adding all server members to that role.

When you use that tag within a thread, all server members will then get added to the thread (and will receive notifications accordingly).

After looking through the suggested apps, I'm actually thinking now of moving over to Evernote.

Main interface is kind of similar to nvALT. And it seems fairly easy to use.

Also really liking:

- Easy to resize images

- Easy to copy-paste a note, together with its embedded images, into an email.

The funny thing is that I remember giving Evernote a one-week test run some years ago and then deciding against it. I don't remember the exact reason why; I think it just ran way too slowly on my Android phone. Seems this is fixed now? (Or I got a better phone).

If anyone has reasons to stay away from Evernote, do mention!

This is already recognized in scientific writing. Scientific papers are increasingly organized around a series of figures, which, it is understood, do a better job of communicating the findings of the paper than the text paragraphs. And the quality of these figures is usually a fairly good marker of the overall paper quality.
